Try changing the coil, if you have the grey module on the distributor they can mess up when they get hot too. The coil is easier to try first.

How do I find out what's wrong with it?

Could start with cleaning the throttle body. Go to a tune up, plugs and wires. If you want to do a complete tune up. replace the plugs, wires, air filter, fuel filter, Change the oil and oil filter.

2002 cavalier 2.4 will not start fuel pump runs has spark

FUEL PUMP ONLY HUM'S FOR 2 SECONDS WHEN YOU TURN KEY TO ON, NOT START, POSITION. YOU CANNOT HEAR PUMP RUN WHEN CAR IS RUNNING ! THIS 2 SEC., IS THE PUMP PRIMING ITSELF TO START ENGINE. YOU MIGHT BE HEARING EITHER THE POWER STEERING OR WHATEVER, NOT THE FUEL PUMP!!!!!! GIVEN THE YEAR OF THIS CAR, YOUR FUEL PUMP COULD BE BAD, CHECK FUSES, RELAY, GROUND WIRES, TO PUMP, ALSO CHANGE YOUR FUEL FILTER !!!!! AIR FILTER ALSO !!!!!!! SPARK PLUG WIRES SHOULD ALSO BE REPLACED !!!!

Car wont stay running after it starts, runs around 500rpms then dies out, sometimes wont start. replaced fuel filter, and the main relay fuse. this problem started after replacing my gas tank.

fuel injected cars cannot vapor lock, so not the issue, when they replaced the fuel tank did they replace fuel pump? It should have been, but 2 things come to mind, they pinched wires when putting tank in and it shorts sporadically shutting off pump, look around with light and trace wires looking for any breaks in plastic coating, or fuel pump is failing.

I have a1987 f-150 acts like its vapor locked changed fuel filter, plugs, wires, distributer cap,ran fine sat for 8 months now wont run right

Sounds like the distributor stator/pickup is defective, this sends an erratic signal to the Ignition control module (called the TFI module) coil and that causes the timing to go wacko. The Ignition control module and the stator are mounted on and inside the distributor change them both, the distributor must come out to replace the stator. here was a recall on may of these trucks, contact a Ford dealer. Another problem is that the ignition switch comes apart, this also was recalled on many models. Below is a diagram of the distributor for your reference.11_30_2011_5_37_47_pm.jpg

1995 pontiac bonneville was running fine until I parked it. Came back several minutes later and now it wont fire off when I turn it over. After spraying starting fluid in it, it works fine for about 5...

Can you hear the fuel pump hum when you turn the key to on? If it will start on starting fluid, you definitely have a fuel problem. The pump being stuck or bad, or the filter being plugged, or vapor lock (try loosening the fuel cap, does it pull in air?)

My 91 c1500 will run cold for like two miles then act like it's running out of gas then it won't start untill hours latter whats wrong??

Sounds like a vapor lock situation.

First check and see how close your fuel lines are the any heat producing elements such as the intake, exhaust manafolds or pipes, ect.. also check the fuel take presure regulator and fuel cap. if there are leaks this will also have the same effect.

If vapor lock is the case a cheep simple quick fix is to simply wrap the lines with some material like header wraps.

2001 saturn S-series difficult starting hot I have replaced the air filter, spark plugs, spark plug wires, fuel filter. the car will start fine in the morn. but after driving and going to start again it is...

check your catalitic converter. check the temperature pre and post converter. it should be relatively close to the same temperature. if it is hotter pre and a good bit cooler post. then your car is not able to release the exhaust and it will mak it hard to start when ot. also if it happens when it is hot outside and you run 87 octane fuel it could be vapor lock. that solution would be to run only 89 or higher.

1993 pickup will start when cold but not when hot

Sounds like vapor lock. Check to see if the fuel filter is clean/changed lately and that the fuel lines do not run past hot places on the engine.

Won't start

hahahahahahaha i like the tree idea but actually what hapen is most likelly you did not chage the plug wires one by one
if they are not in the same spark plug then the car will miss and chake all what you have to do is to get the firing order to know where is every cylinder number location and then most of the times the coils where the plug wires conect have numbers that number belong to that cylinder number i hope and this help
and next time you ask for help make sure to include the engine size like 3.1 or 3.0 because cars come w/ diferent engines and that will help to get you a closer answer
