Transmission shifts fine cold but 5 mins later nothing

internal pressure loss when warm??? you mean it wont go? at all? or it wont shift? thats a stickler to diagnose when you cant see smell or touch it...tow it down to the trans man. could be anywhere in the hydraulic circuit, convertor? seal ring ? cracked drum? or if it wont upshift, could be sticking governor? modulator, mod supply line, worn clutches, since we dont know the year, we dont know if its electronic, sometimes sensor input can change with temp. and manual valve position must be accurately reported to the pcm. i can safely bet you dont have test equipment for that. so i must say see the trans man

The transmission won't shift out of 3rd and will only go up to 50 mph at around 3500 rpm.

check for a bad vacum to the modulator valve on your transmission,or a bad vacum to the modulator valve on the transmission. the modulator valve to the trans. works off of vacum from the engine, look for loose or disconnected vacum lines around the carb. or the air induction system. look for cracked vacum lines that seem to be sucking air when engine running at idle speed. in park. the modulator valve [usually] located on the drivers side,of the transmission,is the main cause of shifting failure. if the valve itself is bad, it will need replacement. thank you for choosing!

Were is the modulator valve at on the tran

Hi Friend: Your Modulator Valve is Located more towards the Right Side of Transmision there will be a Vacum Line running to it. If you Have a Late Model Vehicle you will not have the Modulator Valve,You'll have a electronic System, Activated thru your Computer, and Sensors.

I need to find and replace the modulator valve in my transmission but dont know were to look

its located on the rear of the transmission on the passenger may have a metal shield that may make it a litte hard to remove. it will take a 1/2 socket to remove it also a drain pan to catch trans fluid.

I have a 1966 Ford Falcon with a C4 transmission. The trans was completely rebuilt and has a Cheetah man/auto valve body. Lately the trans has been shifting eradict under normal driving conditions to the...

I would begin by replacing the filter if its not new, 2 possibility of issue, faulty shifting module or defective transmission rebuilt. just because it has been rebuilt does not mean the individual work on it did a good job. the less cost effective way is to locate used modulator from ebay or junk yard, if that does not rectified the issue than more likely it will be the tranny. the bad part is that I dont know of a company offer a bench test for the tranny modulator.

Does a 1994 Toyota 4Runner have a Modulator Valve? If so, where would it be located? Also, does it have a Shift Linkage? And if so, where would it be located as well? Thanks!

If your 4Runner has an automatic trans., then it has a modulator valve located on the trans. itself (should have a vacuum hose connected) and whether it's automatic or standard it will have shift linkage that connects the shift lever in the car to the trans's shift shaft.
I hope this helps.

My nissan sunny GA15DE was overhauled but started having rough idle immediately threafter. what could have caused this? Gerald

Gerald:Was the engine overhauled because of the smoking problem? If so, the auto trans solution is more likely your problem. Good Luck
  • Automatic transmission? - Check vacuum line to transmission . The only line of rubber going to trans. Located where it attaches ro trans and rwmove it watching to see if it contains any trans fluid. If hose has oil in itm Then replace the valve it was attached to. The valve is called a transmission modulator. The diaphragm is rupture and aloowing engine vacuum to **** and burn the fluid. your trans should be needing fluid too often. Modulator around 12.00 last known.
  • Manual transmission ? - PCVvalve not bafflrd against drawing oil from its location in valve cover.and or Pcv valve is defective. Cheap fix-replace

94 trooper, auto trans.Does it have a modulator valve

If you are talkin about the egr valve, than yes it does. It can also be called the EGR Modulator valve, so your Trooper does have that but its not the culprit to your problem. If it was your EGR modulator valve, when you gassed it, it would die on you. I would check on your input or output speed sensor or BCM.
