If you get a clicking noise, then the fuse, switch, wires, and solenoid are good. Which only leaves the rod and the latch itself.
To repair, take off the door panel and manually operate the locking/unlocking rod to see if it works. It is probably disconnected from the solenoid and only has to be reconnected,

The code is located with the original paperwork/manual provided with the vehicle. If you do not have this, you will need to take the car to a Toyota dealership and provide them with the radio serial number and the VIN.

You will need to try reprogramming the remote 1st, below is the complete procedure. If the reprogram doesn't restore function then you will need the dealer to test the keyless entry system, you may have a bad module or remote (only applies if both remotes don't work).

Start with the key out of the ignition, drivers door is open all others closed and
drivers door is unlocked.

2. Perform these steps within 5 seconds.
A. Insert the key into the ignition(Do NOT Turn) Pull key out.
B. Insert the key into the ignition(Do NOT Turn) Pull key out.

3. Perform these steps within 40 seconds.
A. Close then open the drivers door.
B. Close then open the drivers door.
C. Insert the key into the ignition(Do NOT Turn) Pull key out.

4. Perform these steps within 40 seconds.
A. Close then open the drivers door.
B. Close then open the drivers door.
C. Close the drivers door
D. Insert the key into ignition and leave it in ignition.
E. Turn the ignition to ON (Do NOT Start) then back to OFF.
F. Remove the key from the ignition.

5. Within 3 seconds, the power door locks should lock then unlock automatically
indicating successful entry into programming mode.
Return to step 1 if the locks do not cycle at this point.

6. Perform these steps within 40 seconds.
A. Press the lock and unlock buttons on the remote simultaneously for 1.5 seconds.
B. Immediately after letting go of the lock and unlock buttons,
Press the lock button by itself and hold for 2 seconds. Within 3 seconds, the door
locks should lock and then unlock once indicating successful programming. If
the door locks cycle twice, repeat steps A and B in step 6 as the remote was
not accepted.
C. Repeat steps A and B in step 6 for each new remote.

7. Open drivers door.

The locks mysteriously stopped working. Suddenly, the button on the driver's door to look the doors wouldn't work. I then realized that it won't even lock with the key. I tried again the next day and...

If something electric works at all, whether correctly or incorrectly, the fuse is fine.A fuse would cause absolutely no operation. It sounds as if there is a bad switch within the driver's door since it is the main activator. If the switch comes loose or partially breaks/cracks mechanically,it could easily cause these symptoms. It usually isn't wiring because it doesn't move. The switch goes up and down constantly for years. The armrest usually is held on with 2 or 3 phillips screws. If you remove them, the switches and wiring should be right there. If you do get to the main switch, please tell me what wires are attached to that particular switch and I will figure out how you can do a quick check to see if it is the problem.Greg

97 RAV4 door won't open. Or unlock

These can be a nightmare!
Try pushing / pulling all cables and rods available. And key operation if connected.
If there is a solenoid to operate it, remove the connector and use a meter to find the motor wires. Cautiously apply 12v from a handdrill battery - first one way - then the other to see if the drive motor will unlock it.

As a last resort - Drill a 1/4" hole in the lock body - and use that as a pilot hole for a 20mm holesaw - destroy the lock mechanism to gain entry - the lock was beyond repair anyway - so needed replacement - Just don't damage other components if possible.

Turn off alarm

put the key in the driver's side door key hole and turn the key to unlock it. Turn the key twice in the direction to unlock, I think it's top of the key towards the front of the car. Works on my wife's car
