Question about 2001 Volkswagen Beetle

My 2001 beetle dies for no apparent reason. Sometimes it just won't start after driving it. Usually starts when it's cold. Problem appears to be intermittent or sporatic.

My 1998 Volkswagen Beetle keeps dying.

With the car running rough it could cause the harsh shift but if it is staying at 5000 rpms then the ****** is about to go out on you. The rough idle sounds like a vacuum leak. If you can keep the car running at idle listen for a sucking type sound. That would indicate where the vacuum leak is.

My 2000 beetle won't come out of park when the engine is on

Sometimes the steering wheel has a lock mode when the car is off, and then gets stuck there. Try wiggling the wheel after you start the car.

Sounds like Rpm Sensor G-28. if no signal is received from the rpm sensor the engine will die. won't start until it gets a signal. test the sensor but also the wiring from the sensor.

CANT GET VW BEETLE STARTED

hi if its not been started for five years and it is trying to start but just won,t keep running get someone to tow you and jump start it because i suspect the compressions will be low due to a build up of damp carbon valves sticking all in all the seats on the head and valve will not be seating so if you persisist with the jump start it forces the valves onto the seats and will clear the debrie if it still won,t go check your compressions yates210456

I had a similar problem. It just stops for no apparent reason? Usually when it's cold outside?

Try replacing the glow plug relay, an AA guy did this for me and I haven't had the problem comeback since. It's in a panel under the dash on the drivers side. I think it's number 102 but I advise you to check that beforehand....
