Question about GMC Jimmy

3 Answers

Where can I find a diagram for the vacuum lines on my 99 GMC Jimmy 4x4? It keeps stalling and I have "major vacuum leak" code. I also have problems with the heaters ability to blow when engine is under load. And my blend doors don't work.

Hi! You may want to check out the auto parts store and get a haynes manual for your gmc for atleast $20. The manual got vacuum lines, electricals, a/c, underchassis, everything that you need. Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa!

Concerning the heater:

1. You will need to back flush that heater core or replace it. i would also advise to flush your entire coolant assembly. I'm sure it could use it.

2. Replace your Blend Door Actuator. That will correct the heater door issues.

The best resource for all of these problems will be the Haynes Repair manual on your vehicle. Yo can get it at any major Auto Parts store. Chiltons Repair Manual will also work.

I have 12 Haynes manuals and 4 Chilton's manuals on various vehicles I work on. All of them have Vacum Diagrams in the back in front of the index. They are not pictures of the different connections they are actual diagrams showing connections. This is normally posted on the underside of your hood or on the cross bar near where the hood locks down or near the head lights.

I have a 1997 GMC Jimmy 4.3 liter V6 4 wheel drive why would it lose power and want to stall when I put it in gear

The first thing you need to do is have the engine computer control module scanned for fault codes. Autozone and O'reilly auto parts do this for free. Ask for a OBD2 fault code test.

I need a vacuum line diagram for a 1987 gmc jimmy 2.8 L V6 s 15 4x4

If it's not under the hood, then go to the autozone website for one. If they don't have it, buy a Haynes manual. Best one's around.

I have a 99 Jimmy with 4.3 engine. I have bad missing in the engine. I have replaced all wires, plugs, cap and rotor. This unit is still missing and setting a general misfire code. I have no vacuum leaks...

I found the problem and 99 jimmy is running great now. the major problem was the intake manifold gaskets sucking air and causing random misfire codes(bad fuel/air ratio) but also we pulled the distributor as well because from 87-99 the drive gear was made of soft material and sure enough 3 teeth on the dist gear were almost worn right off. We also replaced this with 120$ new rebuilt unit.
Intake gasket kit is approx 100$ and no more than 2 hrs labour and the distributer is real easy to pull and replace once the intakes are off so this is a good time to check dist with little extra labour.

Does a 1995 gmc jimmy 4x4 have a vacuum line that runs to the transmission?

If your transmission is automatic, it probably has a vacuum controlled modulator located on the passenger side near the front of the transmission. It is a round component witha vacuum nipple on it's end and connects to a manifold vacuum source.

Bad oil leak driver side front fender

There is an adapter for the oil filter with 2 lines coming out of it above the drive shaft from the transfer case to the front differential. The O ring on these will go sometimes causing loss of oil. Also check the 2 lines for leaks and cracks.

1991 GMC Jimmy4 wheel drive not working

those are engaged by vacuum on the pass. side on the fender well under the hood there is a diaphragm that will pull in when put in 4x4 many times the vacuum lines get old and crack or get pulled off. The lines go to the transfer case and to the vacuum canister as well as the diaphragm on the fender well. If you have a vacuum leak it will cause it not to pull so if your vents don't change over good you have a leak elsewhere and that needs to be fixed. I don't like the vacc. engaged 4x4 but when it works it is a light weight shift on the fly design that you don't have to worry about the shift motors getting stuck or corroded.
