Wow well it sounds like you have a few things to worry about! Which ever misfire cylinder it is reading go ahead and replace the spark plugs first, if that's not it replace the wires and the distributor. The mass air flow code is what regulates the air coming in to your engine. This will prevent your car from breathing really so it is a must to change it. Coolant temp code could be lack of coolant in the radiator, the thermostat might need to be changed, or the water pump may need to be changed. I would do the cheapest first and work your way up! Hope this helps you out!

Dying, not starting after it's been warmed up. Runs beautiful on cold engine. Replaced plugs, wire, cap, rotor and crank position sensor, no luck.

Your car cold start valve puts more gas into the system keeping your engine running higher RPM. When you car warms up, the cold start valve will stop working and your car RPM will drop. What you could have is a vacuum hose disconnected which puts more air into your engine - therefore when you press on the gas pedal, your engine would shut off or you find lack of power and then shut off.

If one of the sensors is failing, you should be getting a check engine light and a trouble code.
When you say it has fuel, do you have injector pulse and fuel pressure in the rail ?

Check engine light

It might but what exactly are the codes. Before you change the Mass air flow sensor, try cleaning it first with a can of mass flow cleaner.
If your running a oil K&N filter, there could be some oil residue on the sensor. Start with that and change the filter or clean it if it's a K&N.
The O2 sensor's could be bad also, you really need the code's to be sure what sensor is giving you the faulty signal.
Good luck and hope this helps.

1999 VW Bug Service engine Light

When you say water light comes on, do you mean coolant level, or coolant temp or ? Check coolant level and top off if needed. Bring the Beetle to a parts store, most offer free check of check eng. light. They will plug a hand held scan tool into the cars diagnostic port (usually located under the dash) and 'read' stored engine codes in the cars computer. They can tell you what the codes mean, and suggest what to do. If you have further questions, post them here along with the code numbers.
