Remove the float bowl cover and set the wet float level. There should have been instructions with the rebuild kit on how to do this. If you don't have experience with carburetors, ask an old mechanic to help.

If it's injected then it's located on the fuel rail. If carbureted, the floats sunk.

Car keeps flooding

is your car fuel injected or carburetted? if you say flooding i assume you have a carburetor, my only problem is your car is '05 which is usually fuel injected. but let's say it is carburetted, open carburetor and clean, check float valve for debris which prevent it from closing when reservoir is full, flooding occur when this happen. diy or have a mechanic do it for you.

Cutting out and missing at midrange 40 to 55 mpr

I had a problem similiar - if you vehicle has over 100,000 miles you might need a new timing chaing kit fitted into your vehicle. There are many symptoms associated with a rough idle and using some the over the counter fixes or mechanic in a bottle will appear to make the problem go away for a short time. For instance Sea Foam and Chevron Techron Plus are good solutions when used correctly but won't solve a timing issue. You might take your vehicle to a trusted mechanic to check. If you do need the timing chain replaced, I'd suggest you request the oil pump be replaced and have them install a timing kit, new serpentine belt idler assembly and serpentine belt. The reason is most shops have to go through all these parts to get to the oil pump. The job is about 14 hours for the complete job. It runs about 11 hours for just the timing kit change out. 3 hours and a new oil pump will help extend your vehicle. I am utilizing a Dual Overhead Cam, Duratec 24V, 3.0L while writing this. Estimates and price may very. Total cost when we looked into this was approx $2800, the other option was to trade/sell it. Hope this helps. MPK

1987 dodge raider 4 cylinder love the car ... but ... when driving in cold weather, like near 0F, the car slows down, and dies then restarts after 30 minutes or so suggestions ?

So she does. If it carbureted then check the choke, it electric or heat operated from the exhaust.
What happen whent it get cold. There the thermoal spring in the choke cools down make the butterfly on the coke close. install new electric coke or a kit for the manifold head coke control.

Have put new mechanical pump and filter on went well for two days then reverted back to taking forever to start whilst just about flooding it by pumping the hell out of the accelerator, Have been told to...

before buying the carburetor kit, have a look at the plugs. clean the carbon from the tips and adjust the gaps properly since starting problems do have a link to proper functioning of the plugs & if they are old think of replacing them first
