Question about 1994 Mercury Cougar

Well since the car engages the gears are probably good. The first thing i would suggest is to change the transmission filter and oil out and see if that makes it go away. If that doesn't work then there is more than likely a problem with your transmission and would be hard to pinpoint if it were just a sensor or something deeper. Wish i could be of more help!
