ESC OFF is switch on

Yes, and press the switch and ESC will turn on. The switch enables or disables the ESC. When you turn off the vehicle and turn it back on, the ESC will automatically turn on regardless of whether it was on or off when you last turned the car off. If you want to keep the ESC disabled, you will need to push the button each time you start the car. The ESC is not the ESCape hatch. It is the Electronic Stabilization Control. This is a computer operated system of interworking devices that help keep the car stabilized and driving correctly. It includes the antilock braking system, the antiskid system and the traction control system (if equiped).

Exhaust gas recirculation module check:

1. Note the Differential Pressure Feedback Exhaust Gas Recirculation (DPFE) sensor voltage through the scan tool or backprobe the Brown/Light Green (BN/LG) wire of the Exhaust Gas Recirculation System Module (ESM). Voltage should indicate a reading of 0.5-1.2 volts.

2. If the voltage of the DPFE sensor is out of range, low or high, disconnect the ESM and note that the voltage of the DPFE sensor circuit should indicate a reading of 5.0 volts.

3. If the DPFE sensor voltage is out of range connected and the reading shows 5.0 volts with the ESM disconnected, reconnect the ESM and verify that the Brown/White (BN/WH) wire shows a 5.0 volt reading and that the Grey/Red (GY/RD) wire shows to be a good ground, indicating a voltage of less than 0.1 volts. If these circuits check to be ok, replace the ESM due to a faulty DPFE sensor.

4. If the DPFE sensor voltage in step 1 is found to be ok, verify that both vacuum hoses to the ESM have full engine vacuum to them when it's running.

5. With the engine idling, backprobe the Brown/Pink (BN/PK) wire and hold it to ground. This should activate the Exhaust Gas Recirculation Vacuum Regulator (EVR) solenoid of the ESM. The EGR valve should open, the engine should run rough, and the DPFE sensor voltage should climb.

6. Replace the ESM for a faulty EGR valve, EVR solenoid, or DPFE sensor if the DPFE sensor or engine does not respond to ground activation of the BN/PK wire

Is a 94 esm the only year i can use in my 94 cavalier

if you mean ecm(computer) there is a number on a tag on the ecm that will have to match and then there is a chip that will have to be transferred from the original ecm to the ecm your installling in your car.have you had the car put on a scan tool as if the ecm is bad it should have set a code for the ecm,if you have spark and fuel you should be at least getting an indication the car is trying to start, short start up,back fire through intake or could have a timing problem or even a problem with the ignition module not working properly, this needs to be properly checked out before throwing parts at it.

My 93 Accord won't start... engine just keeps cranking and cranking with no start. Ideas?

If your car runs for a few and then refuses to restart, for a while, after shutting it off, then your main relay is bad. If it just won't start period, your distributor is bad. Have them both checked out, depending on which no start symptom you're having.

93 celica keeps staling.

check the iac and throttle body, may be full of gunk, some cases you may have to replace the iac, which is located on the throttle body, iac controls how much air the intake needs at cold starts.if it is gummed up then at cold start you can experience prblems with keeping the idle up to speed.after the car warms up it seems ok.

Truck will not start

Open the Glove box flip the door down and reach in and tap on the ESC box then see if it starts. These go bad especially if the truck ever set up for a while.
