Question about 2001 Saturn SL

1 Answer

Have a 2001 saturn sl that will not start in the late afternoon during the hottest part of the day. When I try the anti theft light blinks and the car will not start. Was able to override that for about one week but now that doesn't help either. What can I do? Can I just disable the anti theft all together?

You may have a failed ignition lock cylinder, the only for sure way to know is to take the car to a gm dealer and have them diag the car. (read the code) You can not bypass the theft system it controls fuel and ignition control module. If you have an independent repair shop with a scanner that can read a saturn control module it might be cheaper. The parts you will need tor replace isa lock cylinder new key and have the new lock cylinder coded

I just want to ask , my friend have a problem with he's saturn s-series 2001, the problem is it is really hard to start we just only hear a click noise so we decide to change the starter, but i just...

Alot of the time the anti theft security can actually disable your starter. Check to see if there is a light on the dash that says SECURITY or a little picture of a car with a lock thru it. This would be a dead give away of the security problem. Check out this link for info and DO IT YOURSELF solutions to this problem.

2002 Saturn SL2 was working fine an hour previous to the 'lock out'. I went to run another errand and it wouldn't start. Battery good, all lights, etc coming on. Wouldn't turn over. Anti-theft feature...

Your owners manual will tell you that the anti-theft can be turned off, but doesn't tell you how (dealer only?). If it is turning over but wont start, (trying to hit and outside temp is below 32) check the coolant temp sensor. Saturns notorious for cracked sensor sending false info to computer thus flooding engine.

May or maynot crank. Anti-theft light blinking really fast. May take ~10mins or more before it cranks. Correct key in ignition. Ford F150 2001 truck.

Do you have another key to try ?
The flashing theft light during the crank is indicating the key is not programmed to the truck.
When you get the no crank no start, do the cluster pass the power on tests OK ? ( i.e. all the indicators light up, and then go out, oil would still be on with the key in the run position with the engine off ).

I drove the car alot that day and then I went to start the car and it wouldn't start. After it had sat for a couple hours. It cranks but will not start.

I have the same problem with mine,I found out lately that this car is designed for anti theft lock so always lock your door when you park even if you're just refueling. try switch it ON wait for 10 minutes until the security lock stops blinking, turn it off then start.

My security light is on and my car dies right after it starts tried relearn code and it id not work

to reset passlock system, Turn the engine two seconds then leave the key in the run position for exactly ten minutes...the anti-theft security light should go from blinking to solid at the ten minute mark. Immediatly run the engine and the Passlock is reset. Good Luck!!

2001 Saturn .problem with anti theft protection

if this product is factory fitted then you should be able to contact the manufacturer and obtain the schematic instructions for shortening the time yourself. it is quite an easy proceedure usually involving turning keys while pressing buttons on your dashboard.

2001 ford taurus wont start and anti-theft light is blinking

Either you may be using a key that you had copied from the original or your chip went bad in your original key. Most of cars now a days have the key censor in the key so if it is the incorrect key it will not start your car or if it does not read that chip it will not start
