I had a similar problem and thought to solve it my adding freon. When I made the connections I was surprised to find that the pressure was already higher than it should be.
Changed plan at that point and vented freon back into safe range. The A/C immediately began blowing cold again on both sides. Found out later that if the A/C had been serviced / filled on a cold day, that on a hot day in Texas it would be too high and cause the issues you noted.
If the truck has dual control then the problem is the blend door/temperature actuator on the passenger side.
