Question about 2005 Chevrolet Cavalier

1 Answer

I have a 2005 cavalier its never given me any problems it still runs good but the other day I noticed a high pitch squeal that you can hear from the inside and outside of the car. especially when you lean close to the tires (reminder the car is not in motion). But the noise does persist as I drive does anyone knows what this could be?

Hi this could be numerous things, you need to clarify that it is coming from the engine bay, but normally, this is the sign either of a slipping worn serpentine belt, as the engine runs, the belt is slipping and hence the squeal noise, or it might be one of the pulley's, like a tensioner pulley, or even the water pump if the bearings have gone u/s, there's a couple of things to look at first, hope that helps please vote thanks

You are hearing the brake pad warning device. Your brake pads need replacing. Do not neglect this or you will be buying rotors as well as brake pads.

2005 grand cherokee squealing and loss of coolant

Check belt tension, squeeling is most likely due to belt slippage. Have you noticed any fluid leaking from under your Jeep? Coolant level drop could be from bad water pump, when the pump needs replacing, water flows out of a "weep hole". It could be leaking onto your belt also, causing it to squeel
