Question about 2004 Chevrolet Avalanche

Speedometer reads 10mph faster than I am traveling. When I turn off truck or am at a stand still the speedometer reads 10mph. (2004 Avalanche)

You've most likely got a failing speedometer drive motor, very common on Avalanches.

have you changed the wheels and tires on you vehicle to aftermarket ones? if so, the chrysler dealer can "relearn" the new tire size that is on you car, adjusting the speedometer accordingly

check wheel and tyre sizes with the homoglonation certificate ,could be that the profile on the tyres is the wrong size .

I would try to raise the car on jack stands and while in nuetral turn rear wheels be hand and see if you hear anything. if not inspect tires for a nail good luck

check the wires leading to you throttle body. i had the same problem and found a broken wire on the throttle body wiring harness. i repaired the break, had the computer reset and problem was fixed. hope this helps.

Speedometer error on 1993 Plymouth Voyager with 3.3L V6


Have you called transmission place? Did they also install it? Ask them if they changed speedometer adapter, and mention the difference in speed.

Speedometer Not Reliable


This happen to me too. Had to get it replaced under my exstended warrenty that cost me the $200 deductable but would of coast over $400 if this happened later.
