Why can't i get my remote to work after replacing the battery for my 2001 Saab 93; some says it(remote key) has to either be reset or reprogrammed.

Did you check to make sure it is not upside down, or you have it in correctly? They dont need reprogramming unless you break them. My guess is you did not replace battery correctly. Broke it while doing it something like that.

How to re-start my car after anit theft light has come on?

you need a full charged battery or battery replaced [if battery bad and not holding charge] your remote key fob will not work if battery is dead or to weak to start car but key should be able to manually open drivers door --if its not an original key new cut or worn down [may have to jiggle in door ] your anti theft/security lock will come on when you use key in door than you have a few seconds after you open door to put key in ignition and turn to on position before alarm goes off but you need to get battery issue corrected first if key still doesnt work may need to have assistance [slimjim]lock to get in

Mercedes key remote

you probably will not start the car as the immobiliser needs the key battery to transmit the code to allow the immobiliser to work correctly. Fit a new battery in the key fob and have it reprogrammed to the engine CPU.

You need to replace the key FOB (the remote control). It doesn't happen very often but everyone and a while one will just flake out and transmit all the time causing the symptom you have described. Since you took the battery out and the problem stopped you correctly diagnosed your problem. Let me know if you have any questions and I'll do my best to answer them. Thank you for using FixYa.com!

I change my key batery and now the engine wont start

Make sure the battery is in correctly first.
If so, manually unlock the car, start it, and let run for about 2 minutes. Shut off, then shut the doors, unlocked. Use the remote to "lock" the doors, then unlock.
If this does not work, I suggest contacting the dealership of purchase.
Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Mercedes key fob wont lock the doors.might have a piecec missing from the circuit once opened up.

Hi, it’s pretty difficult to lose a part of the circuit as you describe. So assuming that you have placed new fresh batteries correctly in the key – making sure that the polarity is correct! (easy to get wrong!) the key will need to be synchronised to the cars ignition / management system. You don’t say which model or year your Merc is, but most have a similar way of re – synchronising the Key to the car. It’s pretty easy and you lose nothing by trying it anyway.

Synchronising the locking system
If the vehicle cannot be locked or unlocked, first check the remote control unit batteries (see below). If the battery charge indicator lamp lights up, this means the system needs to be synchronised.
To do this, direct the remote control unit at the car and briefly press the Lock or Unlock button twice. Within approximately 30 seconds, put the key in the ignition lock and turn the key to position 2. The locking system should now be operative.

Battery Check
Press either the Lock or Unlock button and hold for longer than one second. The light on the key lights up briefly if the battery is OK. if it does not light up, replace the batteries immediately. Mercedes will charge a small fortune for these, so try elsewhere, they are pretty common and will cost substantially less.

If re – synchronising the Key fails to solve the problem, check that the Central locking fuse in the cars main fuse box is OK.

Hope this solves the problem – Let me know? Good luck!
