1998 nissan maxima runs hot, replaced the thermostat and at times gauge still register hot, what else could cause this?

Its possible that your problem also stay in the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor resistance changes in response to engine coolant temperature.

Keep in mindthat the sensor resistance decreases as coolant temperature increases. This provides a reference signal, which indicates engine coolant temperature, to the ECM.

no the thermostat must be working or your engine would not heat up, check to see if your heater hoses are hot if only one is hot you need a heater core, but check your coolent level if the van gets low on coolent it will not let any get to the heater thehope engine keeps it all to keep the engine cool....hope this helps

My hyundai latra1.6glsi wont start when hot just keeps turning over,it is fine when cold

Sounds like a problem with your radiator. It gets too hot too fast. Get it checked to make sure that the fluid is pumping thru your engine correctly.

The car overheated and stopped, and now it wont turn over

do you mean it turns over but won't start? or do you mean engine won't turn at all like maybe its tied up? or sized up? if your not sure someone will have to get under the front with a socket and breaker bar on harmonic and see if engine will turn by hand.
