Hi,

How to Remove

  • Removed the (-) wire on the battery.
  • Disconnect 02 sensors (2).
  • Lower exhaust front left pipe (5 nuts) 3 in front flange 2 on rear. Needed 10" extension and I think the nut was 17mm .
  • Remove starter (2 bolts) 14 mm.
  • Remove wires on starter. One is a plug in and the other is attached with a nut 12mm. I found it easy to remove it once starter was loose I could get a better view of it.

I saw the answer about the breaking flexplate on Honda passport and mine is the same but I have a salvaged transmission from izuzu do I still need to make sure I have a factory Honda starter to correc

you will have to check the teeth count on the flex plate as there may be a mismatch with the starter pinion. replace any broken rods for the transmission If the starter physically fits then there are different starter pinions available with the correct no of teeth for the plate.

2001 Honda Passport When I hit a bump not all bumps my Check Trans and Cruise Set lights come on and my rpm goes to 0 The vehicle loses power for only a split second then fine til another bump Vehicle runs...

There may be a problem with the electrical connections to the transmission and/or vehicle speed sensor, remove all connectors and check for damaged wires and corrosion. Make sure not to break any connector locks.

Removing starter for 1995 Honda Passport, can I do it myself and what do I need

Very simple job to do for the DIY mechanic, best way to get at the starter is from underneath the car, disconnect the live battery terminal, very important! remove the wiring harness from the starter and undo the three locating bolts that secure the starter to the gearbox, give it a wiggle and it should come free!
Make sure that the live feed off the battery i disconnected! there are some times an engine to bulk head earth starp located on one of the bolts, ensure that this goes back on!
Tool required, 10mm spanner, 13mm sockets etc.

hope this helps
