With the engine running it is the hottest one, it is also the largest of the 2 small heater core hoses going to the firewall from the engine.

Im trying to flush the cooling system on a '97

Not positive about that engine, but the usual method is the heater inlet will come off the cylinder head somewhere and to the firewall, and the heater outlet (the return hose) will be at same place on the firewall and go to the water pump, very close or at the fitting where the lower radiator hose attaches to the water pump inlet.

Locate Inlet heater hose

I'm guessing you have something like the prestone flush/fill kit. I have never had much luck with those. (They leak and get parts of your engine wet that really shouldn't get wet.) I just drain the coolant, refill with water run the engine with the heater on full blast for about 5 minutes, drain again, repeat untill clean water is coming out then drain and refill with pure antifreeze. Usually there is enough plain water left in the enigine after the last drain to get the mix about 50/50. You can check it with one of the float type testers to make sure it will handle the coldest temps for your region.

Need help finding inlet heater hose from fire wall to engine

The inlet going TO the heater core should be the top one (I think) but in any case it would be the one with the heater control valve on it (see picture below) Hope this is what you were looking for....

Yes. Is there a heat valve in the heater hose may not be opening. Next no heat valve disconnect both heater hoses crank engine and see where the water squirts out of engine thats where the inlet side of the heater Hook the garden hose to the other side and blow it out probably full of rust change antifreeze more often

Can you use a prestone flush and fill kit without opening the radiator drain **** or removing hoses?

No, the flush kit is mounted on the heater hose and you need to drain the system. Removing the lower radiator hose and termostat is the best method for flushing draining the coolant system.

1995 Gran Am 4 cylinder. I want to back flush my cooling system using the Prestone ''Flush 'N Fill Kit. Where do I insert the Tee? I do not know which is the radiator inlet hose as this is where Prestone...

insert the tee by cutting one of the heater hoses and clamping it to the two ends that result.

determine which one is the inlet hose. It is further away from the water pump housing so that when you backflush through it, it also flushes out the heater core.

Hope this helps.
