Question about 1993 Oldsmobile Achieva

Open Question

Good day, I have a 93 Achieva S A/T 3 speed, 4 door with 2.3L SOHC. What is it that controls, or what might be the problem(s) with the following issues. Intermittent working radiator fan, cruise control, digital display on the factory car am/fm cassette stereo......left rear window works only when the temperature outside in the environment is cool to cold, not hot. The heater and a/c will only blow normal air out of the vents even though the temperature gauge reads 200 degrees. Slow moving, moving a few inches, to no reacting passenger and drivers side power window. The only power window that works without a fault is the passengers rear window. One time I observed that the radiator fan turned on when just before the temperature gauge almost hit the red area on the gauge. Any and all assistance would GREATLY be appreciate it.

SOURCE: driver side blows cold passanger hot

Same problem as mine has. I just found out that it could be the LH Electric actuator, located under the driver side dash, just about straight behind the radio. I got mine in order so i do not knoe if that is the solution yet. just athought for ya.sounds like this should fix it though.

SOURCE: Heat wont work on drivers side of car.Only blows

there is a flap inside the venting that directs the air. This vent can get stuck. It is controlled by a vacuum controlled actuator. It can be leaky or a hose is disconnected

You can't make any adjustments, the idle speed is controlled automatically by a computer called the ECM.

Just bought a 1993 Dodge Stealth. It started the first day and sounded and looked good. The next day it wouldn't start and we tried jumping it, but it wouldn't start with a jump. We checked the fluids and...

My money says it is the ECU (engine control unit) early 90's Mitsubishi's are known for poor capacitors in their ECUs. If the car is not starting, if it has spark but no fuel my first money is that of the ECU. If it has fuel but no spark I expect something within the electronics.

Is this engine the SOHC or DOHC.

If you need to replace the ECU there is a MD number you need to use to match the proper unit. The ECU is located under the stereo, remove the two interior flaps (carpet strips) that cover the shifter are. The ECU has 3 large electical plugs, remove these and unbolt the (3) 10MM bolts to get the ECU out

I have owned and replace three Mitsubishi veichles with bad ECU, one of which is my son's 93 Dodge Stealth with 3.0 SOHC.

Please let me know if this had assisted you.

Thanks,
Tom

Do you see the emission sticker under the hood, if the timing is adjustable (and I don't think it is) the spec will be listed there.
