What is the year and model ? are u talking about the ignition key tumbler? that is not the switch that activates the electrcal system, it just moves a long rod which activates the electrical switch which is located on the steering column tube near the bottom

are u referring to the IRCM (integrated relay control module)? it is under the hood, really don't understand what u have going on here, your description of the problem is very confusing with you last question thrown in to the mix, what does that have to do with the ignition switch?

here is the actual ignition switch.

Check the ignition wire under dash first to see if it gets power. If not then wiggle key while in ignition. Sometimes they go bad. Also check fuses.

I recently bought a 1993 Chevrolet K1500. It had the factory radio in dash, but the cassette player and under dash amplifier were gone. I bought both of these from salvage. In doing so, I noticed a...

Hello! The ALDL or On Board Diagnostic I (OBDI) connector is located under the dash on a 1993...And is different then the 94 you looked at...See diagram below...Is there a wire on "A" and "B"? "A" is a White/Black wire that changes to Black/White at the ALDL connector on pin "A"...and should read to ground..."B" is data and is Orange...These are the two wires that are shorted with a paper clip to get the trouble light to "blink" out a trouble code...I DO NOT see a connection between the fault that you have and the ALDL connector, Although the connector may be missing a wire (easily checked)...LETS SOLVE!!!

The problem appears to be be a lack of a connection to the Yellow ignition wire which could appear White...It's the ACC ignition power to the radio...Just because the lights are on doesn't mean the radio itself has power from the ignition...Also The Orange ignition wire (hot at all times) maintains memory to the radio...The White? wire out out the back of the radio appears to be the ignition wire...If there is already a Yellow wire connected to the radio plug that has 12 volts on it when the key is turned to ACC let me know...

Bottom line...Are there wires in both slots of the under dash ALDL connector??? And is there a splice into the Yellow ignition wire...SEND A COMMENT .saailer

I have a '99 ford ranger broke a pin on shifter in steering column... when I took of cover around column it pulled a black and purple wire with a blue crescent shaped plastic clip with a copper tab out...

This is your pats transceiver. I don't know if this helps? I looked at info for 3.0L--99--ranger. You have to remove steering column cover to get at it. Also, note the wiring for transceiver. I didn't see wire color you mentioned? You might be able to go to your local dealership and talk to their service department, or call them. See if they have a transceiver in stock that they will let you look at and compare it to what you have?

Van wont start, battery is ok,lights come on ok.then you try to crank it over and everything goes dead? no lights no dash or dome lights all black. wait a few minutes lights come back on then turn key all...

The problem is a loose connection at your battery or the distribution block. This is normally the ground wire. Try tightening these connections and you should not have a problem. Or wiggle the wires.

Ingnition tumbler broke cant start

If the key won't start it; it might not be the key ignition, but rather; the ignition that has a stem that goes from the key ignition down on the steering colunm. However, you can get key ignitions for them, or buy the whole steering colum then take the key ignition out of it. But, I would suggest more information is needed before I can conclude that it is just the key ignition. Hope this help~!
