Does not turn serpentine belt sometimes but the small fan belt turns.

sounds like the serpintine belt is worn out and slipping. if the belt isn't turning, the a/c, powersteering and the alternator will not function. if this is the case replace the belt. another thing to check is belt tension. with the engine off, try and move the belt up and down. it should only move about a half inch either way. if it moves more than that and your vehicle has an automatic tensioner the tensioner has failed and needs to be replaced. if your vehicle has a manual tensioner try tightening up the tensioner.

Trying to replace belt

there is a tension pulley keeping the belt tight. Typically it takes a one half or three eights inch ratchet or breaker bar to relive tension on the belt from the spring loaded pulley. There should be a square hole to put the ratchet or bar in.To loosen the tension to the belt.

How to change serpentine belt?

Under the hood you will see a diagram that shows the routing of the belt, remember where that is you will need to refer to it! Now not knowing what engine you have I will attempt to help you, most engines with a serpentine belt have whats called and idler pulley this is a pulley that's only job is to put tension on the serpentine belt, it is sometimes identified in the diagram I spoke of earlier, if not look for a pulley that goes to nothing, in other words you'll see your power steering pump, your water pump. your a/c pump etc. once you identify it you need to put a wrench on it and pull or push it and you will see it relive tension on the belt and wa la you simply apply enough tension on it until the belt is loose enough to remove then you put the new belt on by lining it up on all the acesories and relieving the tension installing the belt and letting it loose so it can apply the tension! Use the diagram to make sure you have the belt on correctly. If you have any more questions just ask!

Cant find which pulley to move to get belt on

Unfortunately,this car does'nt have a tensioner
pulley. You have to loosen the alternator to remove that belt, if the pwr steering belt ever goes bad, your going to have to loosen the pwr steering pump to remove that belt.
