Is this occurring at highway speeds, idle or both? If on a rough or bumpy road, does it seem to change more often? When the gauge goes to "0", does the vehicle seem to perform differently or is there an audible change in sound of the engine? Have you had any work performed on the vehicle just before the problem occurred? Is the " check engine light " illuminated?

Gage showing no oil pressure at low rpm

Old oil can do that as it gets too thin, filter blocked.
Wrong grade of oil can also cause that or worn pump/bearings.

Oil pressure guage stays at 40 psi on ign/engine shut down, but drops to 0 psi when ign is turned back on, and then on starting of engine operates normally... What's up ???

the oil pressure gauge only gets a reading when the engine is runningas the oil is being curculated. when you shut the vehicle off it should go back to zero and be there until the vehicle cranks back up. i hope this helps

Oil gauge drops to 0 after engine is warm, checked oil. it was low apox 2qt filled it up , restarted motor, ran for a few min. again same problem. now when shut off and restarted it does the same thing?

when you say it does the same thing the iol level keeps going down that would be a major problem
if the oil pressure keeps droping check the pressure with an external gage do not rely on the factory one if the pressure is good the factory gage could be bad if not you could have a bad oil pump

Check gages light turns on and doesn't go off. Already had the oil changed, the oil pressure needle keeps marking 0. It had the same problem once but I changed the oil and kept working fine; then about 2...

At this point I would strongly suggest that you have your mechanic hook a mechanical oil pressure guage to the engine and make absolutlely sure that the pressure is up to manufacturers standards. It may simply be a failing oil pressure sending unit, but, until you know, it could turn out a lot more expensive! Thank you, Dana

My oil gage drops to 0 and then back up to 40 when i am on a incline after the car has come to a complete stop or when i am making a turn when it drops to 0 the checks gages light come on and then right...

first thing, have you check the oil level, maybe its low?
if the oil level is ok, when was the last time the oil was changed. could be the oil is too old. last thing, possible low oil pressure due to an internal engine problem. (bearing wear)

My oil gage drops from normal to 0 and then bounces back.

you need to replace your sending unit first. its usually $5 or so dollars. If you still have the problem after you fix that. you may have a more serious problem.

My oil pressure gage just drops to 0!!!

You need to replace the oil pressure sending unit, this is what tells your gauge what the pressure is. For future information if your oil pressure drops again and its a real failed oil pump within a few minutes you will internally damage the engine. I would get a new Oil Pressure Sending Unit. Let me know if you have any questions.... Thanks!
