My kia Optima has problem with gear shifting.Sometimes it does not automatically transfering to up level or lower level.Just running with 3 rd gear . I already changed the gear oil and filter. Engine Mount and gear positioning have any relations ? please answer me. SHANI

worn clutch or drive plate on clutch get it checked as you will one day get stranded when it totally fails to go into any gear

sound like the 3 rd gear clutch pack is bad that is if it is a automatic, if it is a stick shift then 3 rd gear is blown

Check the condition of the trans fluid. If it is black the trans is proably worn out. You could take it to a kia dealership and ask them to reset the adaptives on your transmission.

You will need a local transmission repair shop to diagnose this problem correc6tly.

Depends on your engine.

& get it road tested

I doubt there is much left in that transaxle,but a
complete rebuild

problem could be in the switch if fan control speeds off.

Alot of people have the same problem, including me. Changing the transmission fluid is not going to help this problem. THe transmission filter is not something you change as much as you clean and reinstall, its just a metal screen. Call Kia and ask for an "OVERDRIVE SHIFT SOLENOID" they will need the last 8 digits of your VIN, vehicle identification number, to locate your part. I am in the process of changing mine. The part number should be something like 46313-39051. That number is for a 2001 Kia Optima, with the 4 cylinder. There are three shift solenoids bolted to the bottom of your transmission should. I'll let you know what the difficulty level when I am finished.

Keep driving it like that & it won't work at all

yes kia has had shift solenoid problems
