This car uses a ZF6HP26 transmission. In this trans, it utilizes a bridge seal that, if broken will not allow the transmission to shift from park(ZF part number 0501215718). This is a system that should not be tampered with if you have no experience with them. Find a trusted and reliable technician who can specialize in these and will make short work of this for you. It could also be in the column mount switch but more likely in the trans itself. Let me know if what the trans shop says, you do not agree with and would like a second opinion.

I bought a 92 Chev 2500 4X4 from a guy just recently. He said the tranny wont go into gear. I found the transfer case was in neutral. So i put it in gear and away it goes. But reverse seamed sluggish. ...

If your transmission is a 700r4 (4l60) you have a reverse band that engages when you want to go in reverse. since it drives forward your low reverse clutch and your fwd clutch are working. This leaves the band which was probably slipping now is not engaging.

Check the gear box oil level....I'm thinking that you have a auto box....this should be done on level ground and with the engine running at idle speed....To check level correctly place your foot onto the brake hard and also select the parking brake....With the engine running, move the selector lever from park into reverse and then to neutral then to 'D', followed by the lower range gears and then moving up to 'D', and then to neutral again and then to reverse and back to neutral....Leave each position engaged for about one second....Leaving the engine running and the park brake engaged check that the gear box oil is at the correct level....It should be between the marks indicated on the red topped dip stick....When filling with Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) through the same tube where dip stick is located the engine should also be running and care taken not to over fill....Once at the correct level the vehicle should behave normally.

I turned on my 2004 Jaguar S type car and left in on to warm up, when i put it on drive, it wouldnt move I tried reverse and wouldn't move, When I put it on neutral It sounded like it jumped and like it...

The J gate is off and needs to be reset. This requires an experience mechanic. The J gate is located underneath the battery on top of the tranny. Turn the ignition to the on position, place the hand brake on, and shift the tranny in neutral. loosen the outer bolt to the J gate shift plate. It should be under some tension and will release to the proper position. tighten the bolt again and start the car. It will only start in neutral so don't worry about it jumping. When the car starts, you know it is in the right position. Run the shifter to park, reverse, drive to make sure all the gears are in their position. Readjust if necesarry.

Jaguar S type will not move out of park

good posibility is brake light switch. this sits up behind your brake pedal. if you can move gear shifter with key just in between off and acc put shifter in position just between drive and neutral or park and reverse see if you can get it into gear from there if so that is most likely issue

Torque converter problem??

I would check the transfer case. The transmission is shifting manually thru the gears okay. The transfer case 4x4 module is not communicating to release the case so the vehicle will move.
Make sure all the fluid levels are full.
