1 Answer

AC blows hot in front cold in back, new unit last June. Had new climate control head, doors recalibrated and some sort of filter yesterday don't know what its called but he removed the freon installed the filter and refilled it. The one time we thought it was fixed was when the doors were recalibrated but it only worked one day. I am going thru a divorce and ill I cannot afford to do much more.

If a shop filled it and it only lasted one day, sorry but there is a leak somewhere. It happened to my car this year, same thing.I think it was about $100.Good luck! Greg...although mine was a somewhat short to medium tube.

If you have owners manual check that your climate control settings are as you expect them to be, if that makes sense. Some on Fixya do not realise they gave climate control , they think they have normal A/C and try to correct chimerical problems. Please check and repost

The most common cause is a faulty blend door actuator.

If you dual climate control sounds like it the mode door actuator that controls driver and passenger temp. If it went bad again then there is something wrong with the mode door itself causing the actuator to short out

Driver side ac blows hot and passenger side blows cold but climate control is set on 60 degrees

check your vacume units for the door actuators . some units have a plastic gear drive and the unit has to be replaced on the change over door arm .

My 1998 olds silh. back ac doesnt blow cold .

before you tear apart the dash to get to your driver side servo motor-disconnect your battery for 5-minutes, with both front doors open reconnect your battery(this resets your on board computer),then turn your car on and turn your a/c on to high with the coldest setting on both sides for dual air systems and leave the car running for a few minutes. you will feel the air cold again. there is a sensor on the passenger side that will trigger the servo motor to not move if the front door is closed. servos usually get stuck after the power was cut off. if this does not do it, have your a/c sytem checked for leaks.

this is also worth considering:

Dual Climate System. If you're not familiar with this setup, there's a driver and passenger climate setting. The passenger setting knob is on the right of the climate control console. If you have already properly adjusted this setting, there's a problem with the servo motor being out of the preset range for the a/c & heater doors. Every time power is cut from the unit, the servo resets the doors by doing a "sweep" from full cold to full hot maximum range. Over time the servo will fall out of range from constant full range flexing, and the part that controls the range limit must be replaced. Reseting the main module by disconnecting the battery has a slim chance of successfully fixing the issue.

Climate control blows cold on one side and hot on the other should I buy a new climate control?

this is caused most often by out of phase climate zone blend door actuators, it is a very hard problem to repair, some luck in fixing it comes from removing the negative battery cable for 5 minutes to try and re-phase/sync the door actuators,if the one door will not change temp then it is more than a door sync issue and can require replacement of the blend door actuator, are the outputs of the 2 sides just reversed? that is to say will they change from hot to ac even though one is hot and one cold and visa versa?
