Question about 1997 Isuzu Rodeo

10 Answers

1997 Isuzu Rodeo V6 4X4. I have only owned this vehicle for 3wks and the fan/ac wont blow at all out the vents. The blue light comes on when i push the ac button but that is all it does. I don't know which fuse it is on the vehicle but I assume it is either the fuse/blower motor. I would like to know which fuse controls the fan/blower motor and how to test and fix the blower motor and and any thing else that you might think is wrong with it. Thanks!

  • mpflumm2010 Aug 21, 2010

Ok lets try this a third time. I need to know where the fuse that operates the ac/blower motor located at on the vehicle. By that i mean exactly what fuse is it that i need to check.

  • mpflumm2010 Aug 21, 2010

Ok Still I need to know the EXACT LOCATION OF THE AC/BLOWER MOTOR FUSE Meaning where exactly it is at on a 97 Isuzu Rodeo V6 and what fuse in the box it is. Please dont just say it under the dash because it isn't! And the fuse box on the drivers side door panel has a ton of 15amp fuses and I need to know what it will say on the cover so i can locate it. Thanks

  • mpflumm2010 Aug 21, 2010

Ok Could the next person that answers my question please take the time to read the questions. Once again I KNOW I NEED TO CHECK THE FUSE. COULD YOU PLEASE TELL ME EXACTLY WHICH RELAY AND FUSE IT IS UNDER THE HOOD. (MEANING THE EXACT RELAY AND FUSE LOCATION AS I HAVE NO IDEA WHICH ONE IT IS. THANKS

  • mpflumm2010 Aug 21, 2010

1997 Isuzu Rodeo V6 I need to know the exact location(which ones they are) of the fuse and relay under the hood due to there being several fuses and relays.

  • mpflumm2010 Aug 21, 2010

Ok one more time then i give up on this FixYa website. I have a 97 Rodeo that the air/heat doesnt work at all not on any settings. I check the fuses and they are all good, however i still need to know exactly which relay controls the blower motor/ac in order to check it. Since this is a gm product all the relays have the same #'s so dont just say under the hood next to the battery, I need to know EXACTLY WHICH RELAY IT IS(DIGRAM WOULD HELP)also i dont have the cover for the relay/fuse box under the hood so i have no idea which relay or fuse it is. thanks

  • mpflumm2010 Aug 21, 2010

I dont see any 25A fuses in the cabin fuse box. Do you know the exact location that the fuse goes in, and exactly which relay under the hood it is, I dont have the cover that goes over the relay/fuse box under the hood. Thanks

  • mpflumm2010 Aug 21, 2010

man lets try this again. I NEED TO KNOW EXACTLY WHICH RELAY AND FUSE I NEED TO CHECK(MEANING TELL ME EXACTLY WHICH FUSE TO PULL AND ITS LOCATION AND EXACTLY WHICH RELAY I NEED TO PULL AND CHECK.lIKE I HAVE SAID SEVERAL TIMES ON HERE I DONT HAVE THE COVERS THAT SAY WHICH FUSE AND RELAY I NEED TO PULL. tHANKS

  • mpflumm2010 Aug 21, 2010

  • mpflumm2010 Aug 21, 2010

Hey what up? So far i have taken out the blower motor and hooked it up the the battery and it powers on, i have also changed the AC blower motor switch/relay that is right next to the blower motor. I still have yet to figure out exactly which fuse i need to pull as i have no panels for the fuses boxes in the car and under the hood. Do you know exactly which fuse i need to pull( location of the exact one as there are no 25 amp fuses in either box however there are a few slots missing fuses, basically i need to know which relay under the hood to pull as there is no panel so i dont know which one is B-36 and i cant find a 25amp fuse anywhere. Please help. Thanks!

  • mpflumm2010 Aug 22, 2010

Hey i pulled the blower motor and hooked it up to the battery and it started spinning, I replaced the ac blower motor switch/relay that is right next to the blower motor under the dash and i put a fuse in the fuse slot on the inside of the drivers panel. and i still have no air(no hot or cold air) coming out of my vents. Isnt there a 100amp relay under the hood next to the battery that i need to check. If so i need to know the exact one to pull and replace as i have no cover on the fuse panel under the hood, so i dont know which one is B36. any help would be appreciated . thanks

  • mpflumm2010 Aug 22, 2010

Ok I have checked everything but the relay under the hood. can you tell me exactly which relay it is and i know it is B-36 but i dont have the cover for the fuse/relay box so i dont know which one is B-36. THere are several relays in the box so i dont know which one it is. Please help. Thanks!

  • mpflumm2010 Aug 22, 2010

I have check the fuse and blower motor and they are fine. I have also replaced the ac blower motor switch resistor next to the blower motor under the dash and still nothing. I know there is a relay under the hood next to the battery but i dont have the cover so i dont know which one is the right one to pull. Please help.

C-19 Blower motor fuse 25A located in cabin fuse box. Left hand footwell on LHD vehicles, right hand dashboard on RHD vehicles.
Start by checking blower relay B-36 in the engine compartment fuse and relay box. Remove the relay. Jumper directly from battery to pins 85 and 86. (also see here: http://www.fixya.com/cars/r5544622-wire_relay if you dont know about relays) The relay should click Now measure across pins 30 and 87. Measurement should be 0 ohm.
Remove the blower motor(3 screws on the bottom of the unit under the passenger side dash) and connect jumper leads from the battery directly to the blower motor to see that it operates.
The blower motor resister is mounted on the ducting between the motor housing and the heating unit. Remove to test
Measure :

  • pin 1-2 : 2.4 ohm
  • pin 2-4 : 0.9 ohm
  • pin 2-6 : 0.28 ohm
  • pin 2-3 : 0 ohm

Check the fuse located underneath the drivers side steering wheel. Remove the plastic fuse box cover and there will be a diagram on it, locate the A/C, FAN, BLOWER. or HEATER fuse and pull it out and replace it with the same amp rating. Check to see if the A/C compressor under your hood is turning freely and that the belt is in good shape. Recharge your A/C system with R-134 avalible at your local auto parts store. If it is still not blowing out air after you follow the steps above then you will need to test the blower motor by connecting a positive and negative wire directly to the two terminals on the blower motor. The blower motor is located behind the glove box or compartment. Click on the link to view a picture of what it looks like:

If the blower motor is blowing, then the blower is fine, sense it is not coming out all the vents, there is a actuator motor that directs the air flow that is the problem,it is in the dash, and most likely the dash will have to be removed to access the actuator motor. Now if the blower motor is not coming on,the blower fuse or relay might be bad,or a bad blower motor.Use a test light to check to see if there is voltage to the blower motor, then go from there.

Hi!!

First, check the blower motor speeds. if the blower motor switch is faulty, the blower will work only in one speed, usually Hi. This switch is located in the blower assembly unit underneat the dashboard, passenger side. If fan does not come on in any speeds.check fuse/relay. There should be a Blower Fan Relay and Fuse located in engine compartment near battery. To check if relay is faulty, switch it with another one in the box with the same number (cooling fan, fuel pump) to see if blower turns on.

Keep me posted!

You are right that the failure of the fuse must be for sure that has cut off the blower/fan voltage. If the blue light comes on the the AC solenoid is switched but the fan blower also has to switch for the AC to latch on.
So use a good powerful light and look under the dash side of the driver side foot board or under the steering column. The fuse box has the cover indicating the various cirrcuits and you can see this as the 15 amp fuse. USe a meter to check the fuse continuity. confirm and replace.
However it is quite unlikely that the fan motor has failed but another possibility if the fan switch. so check for the switch continuity before/after the fuse is checked. if voltage is coming to switch and not going out ot fan then the switch must be replaced.
Hope my tip helps.

Check the blower motor direct to the battery. If it does not operate replace the motor. If it does work replace the relay for the motor

Ac fuse blowing, in 1996 isuzu rodeo

Disconnect wire to Air Conditioning Compressor and connect normal test light to wire, from engine harness(body)side. Fit new fuse and try air cond controls and switch, test light should light up and hopefully fuse wont blow indicating short in compressor clutch windings(replace compressor). If fuse blows while doing this test compressor might be ok and fault short some where else, fan speed resistor block, fan or control/switches, wiring.

First-on dashboard right hand side of steering wheel there are large (approx 1" sq) buttons-push to turn on-push again to turn off-for the rearwindow defroster, hazard flashing lights and....cruise control. Push cruise button to "on" and you'll see green lights on speedometer bezel light up. On end of wiper control stick on rightside of steering wheel-you'll find a pushbutton. Get car to speed you want-then push this button in. To turn off cruise control completely-push first button you pushed on dashboard.
