Sounds like a dead battery. Do your interior lights come on? Does your horn work? I have a 2000 Intrepid and changing the battery was a real pain in the ****.

you need to check the ignition switch it sounds as if it may not be making a connection. The key has to be in the run position for the car to run after releasing the key. Hope this helps.

Help me please I have a 94 Pontiac Grand Am SE. I jt bought it an put a new battery in it an put a new serpentine belt on it. I went to go to start it an nothing happens no clicking or anything everything...

Turn the key to the run position. Check the dash to see if the security light is flashing. If it is, leave the key in the on position till the light stops flashing. (this may take ten minutes) When the light stops flashing, turn the key to the off position. Then start the car. Make sure the head lights are turned off so that you do not kill the battery.

Daewoo Leganza turns over but wont start, just getting a clicking sound from under the hood. Any clues to what this may be?

you need two people one at the key and one at the starter first check batery connectionsmake sure there clean .then check cableswiggle to see if there loose .than check battery do the head lights come on bright . not ok than repair batery conn cables or charge batery. if ok than follow the click to the starter hopefully, cilinder shaped item mounted to tranmission engine connection point.( while in park or nutral) they turn key to start position you tap on starter case .if it cranks over you need to replace starter.

My blazer will not start, the lights come on cd player works but when you go to turn the key over it does not make the clicking sound so i know its not the battery. But why won't it turn over and start?

This issue happens a lot with these vehicles.

What you may want to do is this; Put your key in the 'Run' Position, not 'Start', and press on the Brake, then move the shifter all the way towards the back, so the red marker is on the '2'. Then, remove your foot from the break, and then move the shifter all the way back to the Park position. Next switch your key back to the 'Off' position.

Now, try to start your car.

If it starts, the issue was that you did not have the shifter all the way in the Park position. If it does not want to start, check your fuse box and see if you have a blown fuse. (Make sure if you replace a fuse that you replace it with the same type and rating).

If the fuses look OK, then you may have an issue with the starter solenoid. Turn the key back go the Off Position, slowly turn the key to the On Position, slowly. Listen carefully. You should hear at least a 'click'. This is the solenoid engaging but not turning. If you hear that click, then turn the key to the Start Position. If it doesn't turn over, the issue may be with the Starter.

Fortunately, the Starter has the Starter Solenoid attached to it and it normally comes as one unit. There are two bolts that hold the Starter in place. Make sure, if you are going to change out the Starter, that your remove the Positive Battery Cable from the Battery. The Positive Battery Cable goes directly to the Starter. If you don't remove that cable from the Positive Battery Post/Terminal, you may cause an arc under the engine. Trust me, you don't want to do that.

Let me know if that helps..

2003 honda accord - starter does not make a sound when you turn the key. I have installed new battery and replaced the positive cable end. The head lights and all accessories work fine.

If the head lights and accessories work, your main fuse is good. Make sure your gear selector is all the way in the park park position. The gear indicator light should be illuminated. if the light doesn't illuminate in Park, but illuminates in the other gear positions the shift cable is out of adjustment. adjust the cable and recheck.
The next step would be to test the starter. Do this by first turning the ignition switch off. To be safe take the key out of the ignition. Unplug the small wire at the starter solenoid and take a jumper wire connected to the starter solenoid and touch it to the positive side of the battery (The battery should be connected to the vehicle).
-If the starter still doesn't operate. The starter is faulty and should be replaced.
-If the starter operates (spins), you have a starter circuit wiring issue. You'll have to do a series of pinpoint test to determine the fault. It could be a faulty ignition switch, starter cut relay, clutch pedal switch for manual trans. or a gear selector switch for an auto trans. or an open in the wiring harness to the starter. -hope this helps.

Will not turn over - put in new battery-full power, brigt lights, starter will not even click- lights do not dim

Sounds like you have starter or starter solenoid problems try tapping on starter housing with a hammer while someone holds the key in the start position. If that doesn't work using a test light to good engine ground make sure you are getting power to the large wire on the solenoid all the time and the small wire with the key in the start position.GOOD LUCK
