Check the bulbs, and then if they are ok,then replace the dimmer switch,it is on top of the steering column, the column will have to be dropped to access it better. If this was at all helpful, please rate thank you.

My headlights on my sunfire go off while driving

Right now, I'm thinking the head lamp switch assembly has a problem? See the wire color in the top of head lamp, that is voltage, fuse protected, hot all the time. When problem is ongoing, you could use a test lite, check for voltage at fuse circuit?
The headlamp switch assembly is located on headlamp ground circuit. There could be a wiring problem, somewhere. I can only help with testing.

I have a 1996 Pontiac Sunfire. When you turn the headlights on, they stay on Daylight running lamps for a while and eventually come on after clicking the high beam switch a few times. Is this the...

this could be a little more simple depending on the lighting outside. quite a few GM's with DRL will turn on the dash lights and tail lights automatically when it gets so dark outside. if it happens when it's completely dark out i would check the switch itself and maybe the relay incase it is sticking

When I turn on my headlights, my lights go out between low beams and daytime running lights. This happens a few times before they eventually stay on. Also my high beams won't stay on.

This happened to me also, a few months ago. I've got a '96 Sunfire GT. 2.4. It tured out to be a bad headlight switch. It was easy to fix. I bought a new one @ Auto Zone for around $70.00, popped the cover off the steering collom undid a few screws, unconnected a few wiring harness connectors, and took the old one out & put the new one in. The unit in question contains the cruse control & turn signal as well. It's all one big part. Good luck. _J_

Headlights wont come on and bright lights won't stay on hold bright light switch and blower works

I had the same problem. The solution is simple; the ignition switch needs to be replaced. This is an easy do-it-yourself project. Here are instructions:

Check for a switch on ebay, they are about $15. After 10 years they wear out.

No dim headlights

You will need to change the multifunction switch, this is also the turn signal switch, nothing else will cause this problem but that switch, seen dozens of them fail like this, no low beams.
