How do you change the thermastat on a 1997 chevy lumina v6 3.1 L

Not sure of the specifics for this car but it generally goes like this. 1. trace the top radiator hose back to your motor. this should be the thermostat housing. 2. remove radiator hose. 3. remove anything that will be in the way of you being able to get the bolts out. remove bolts and then housing. 4. pulll thermostat out. 5. scrape old gasket off of thermostat housing and motor. 6. put new thermostat in and reverse procedure, taking care that the new gasket stays in place as you tighten the bolts.

most chevys have a yellow wire in the harnes that goes to the steering colum that is the security and I have had to just cut the wire to eliminate it but I would check a wire diagrahm before cutting
