The Ford V-8 they use in both Crown Vic and T-Bird are good for losing the solenoid to the starter. Replace that first before looking for a new starter.

I have a 2003 Lancer. The car does not start. Starter solenoid clicks when turned over. The dash lights are dim. I've had the alternator and battery check and are good. Any direction would be helpful. ...

YOU NEED TO MEASURE THE VOLTAGE WHILE IT IS CLICKING AT THE BATTERY & AT THE STARTER, IF THE VOLTAGE IS BELOW 9 OR THE STARTER IS DRAGGING THE CABLES ARE NEXT. BATTERY CABLES CAN BE TRICKY, THEY MAY LOOK FINE, BUT CAN BE BAD. WIGGLE & PULL ON THE CABLES, THEY COULD BE THE PROBLEM. WHILE CRANKING, CHECK FOR HOT SPOTS AT CABLE CONNECTIONS. HOT SPOTS MEAN BAD STARTER OR POOR CONTINUITY .

2003 Chrysler Town and Country will not turn over. Battery at 12.5 volts with no drop in voltage when key turned to start position, but I do hear a faint click sound. All lights, windows, guages appear to...

When you turn the switch over, does the lights dim or flicker? If that's the case then the battery don't have the power it needs to turn the engine over, so it could be the cables and post need cleaning, or the solenoid for the starter is bad. The description you give with the clicking sound, gives me the thought of starter solenoid, but always do the easiest and cheapest. "clean those terminals and post first"

CLICKING NOISE.WON'T START.

Sounds like a bad battery. Try jumping the vehicle. If it won't start from a jump then you need to look at the Solenoid.

New battery new starter only clicks will not start on a 2003 hyundia tiburon

Sounds like you should see if the engine is frozen by trying to turn over the engine by hand with a torque wrench or gripping the belt.Make absolutely the new battery has a sufficient charge by using beefy jumper cables. make sure all your connectors are really clean and tight.

My car wont start but the lights on the dashboard comes on some told me try a new battery and others say its my starter this is my first car and im unsure about what to do can anyone please help me

Actually, these things are too difficult to be exact about, without testing so I can't tell you which it is from the description.

I will try and help though.

Rule #1 should always be: Make sure the battery is fully charged & load tested if there are starting problems. Parts stores do this free & you can read the tester as it is working generally and not have to worry if someone is trying to sell you something that you don't need and that won't fix the problem. (autozone uses a battery analyzer that does a pretty good job)

The battery is the easiest thing to remove & take to get tested & if you find it's bad, you save a considerable amount of time.

I can tell you that if you make sure the battery is fully charged, the cable connections are really good & clean and tightly secured, the ground connections are good and clean and secure, that the battery would have to be bad not to work unless there is a problem with the neutral safety switch, or the ignition switch.

If you hear a click, or a repeating click when you try & start it, that's usually lack of power from the battery or the connections.

If you turn the lights on, turn the key to start & the lights go dim as you hear a solid click at the starter, the starter/solenoid are usually bad. If the light goes out quickly & you get nothing for a minute, this is usually a cable connection problem or the battery is just near empty on power.

Always remove the Neg (-) cable first & replace it last.

good luck.

2003 toyota camry won't start. Had battery tested, and still good. has power but won't even crank.

Could be the starter motor, bad battery connection, starter motor solenoid, faulty ignition switch, siezed up engine.
Turn the head lights on and try to crank the engine, if you hear a click and the lights dim, it is a bad battery or a loose battery lead. If you hear a click and lights don't dim, bad starter. If you don't hear a click, it is the starter solenoid. If nothing at all, bad ignition switch.

Engine wont turn over

Check fusible links and the battery for damage.

Too many variables and more information needed. Do your lights come on but dim when you turn the key? That could indicate a dead battery. If it tries to crank but clicks it could be a starter or solenoid proble. Chect the battery cables to make sure they are secure and clean. Remove the cables and use a battery terminal cleaner brush (wear goggles) and make sure the connection is secure. Otherwise there could be engine problems or other electrical problems.

My 99 Honda Civic won't start. All of the lights come on but the engine clicks and nothing happens.

Hi,
Do you also hear a whine or do your lights go dim when you turn the key? Can you jump it off with jumper cables?
I'm suspecting a bad connection on your battery. Try cleaning your cables and battery terminals and see if this solves the problem.
Hope this helps... Good luck!
