HOT AND COLD

Sounds like you have an air lock in the heater, needs bleeding. From cold check and top up coolant, run engine without coolant cap put heater control to hot, watch the fluid level, will rise then fall suddenly when the thermostat opens, top up coolant and put the cap back on, later when the engine has cooled down again, check coolant level. Hope this helps.

Audi a6 quattro 2001 coolant disappears, engine overheats and white smoke comes out

Unfortunate you're losing coolant into the cylinders, where it's being burned off and exiting out the exhaust. When you initially added that cold coolant into the hot radiator, and hot engine (sit down) you likely cracked the engine block. Best case you just need to replace the head gasket.

2008 coblat ls engine light keeps coming on and coolant is not reading put coolant in light went off but returned on next day

You have a leak. Check the oil to see if there is water in it. Withe the engine running, check the tailpipe to see if excess water is coming out. If yes to either of these, then you have a bad head gasket or cracks in the head/block. You need to find where the coolant is leaking in order to fix it.

How do i put water in my radiator?

you need to replace thermostat and radiator cap.look under hood around engine compartment.look for a radiator cap near radiator, add 50/50 antifreeze and water to coolant system to bring up boiling point.pure water will cause engine run hotter because water evaporate away, remove radiator pour coolant in the radiator until coolant stop dropping in the radiator now some vechicle pour coolant in the coolant overflow jug, pour coolant until coolant level stop dropping and the coolant level stay at cold full mark.start engie let idle few minutes, watch coolant level in radiator if coolant start dropping add more coolant, when coolant level stop dropping put radiator cap back on let engine idle until both top radaitor hose and bottom coolant hose get warm turn off engine wait until it get cool then take a large rag slightly open radiator just a litle at a time to keep from getting scaled.once radiator remove add more coolant if low,put radiator cap back on start the engine let it idle watch the temp gauge if temperature gauge going hot zone stop engine wait until cool then add more coolant, keep doing this until engine stop overheating going into hot zone and coolant level stop dropping, make the coolant overflow jug coolant level stay at full cold mark, dont let jug run empty if so air will get in the coolant system causing engine to overheat.

No my alero is overheating. I have replaced the thermostat and waterpump and put a new cap on reservior and im losing coolant out the overflow

YOU NEED BLEED AIR OUT THE COOLING SYSTEM.WAIT TO ENGINE COOL DOWN.YOUR VECHICLE YOU HAVE TO POUR COOLANT IN THE COOLANT OVERFLOW JUG UNTIL COOLANT LEVEL STAY AT THE FULL COLD MARK.THEN START ENGINE LET IT IDLE A FEW MINUTES WATCH COOLANT IN THE OVERFLOW JUG WHEN IT DROPS ADD MORE COOLANT UNTIL COOLANT LEVEL STAY AT FULL COLD MARK.WHEN COOLANT LEVEL STOP DROPPING IN OVERFLOW JUG.SCREW RADIATOR CAP BACK ON OVERFLOW JUG WATCH ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE GAUGE AS COOLANT TEMPERATURE START CLIMBING TURN OFF ENGINE LET IT SET A WHILE KEEP FROM GETTING SCALDED.TAKE LARGE RAG PLACE OVER COOLANT OVERFLOW JUG CAP SLOWLY OPEN RADIATOR CAP A LITTLE AT A TIME UNTIL PRESSURE RELEASE.REMOVE OVER FLOW JUG CAP.ADD MORE COOLANT UNTIL COOLANT LEVEL AT THE FUL COLD MARK ON THE OVERFLOW JUG.THEN SCREW CAP BACK ON THE OVERFLOW JUG.START ENGINE LET IT IDLE AGAIN WATCH ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE GAUGE WHEN TEMPERATURE GAUGE START CLIMBING.TURN OFF ENGINE WAIT A WHILE.CHECK COOLANT LEVEL IN THE OVER FLOW JUG.DO THIS PROCEDURE UNTIL THE COOLANT LEVEL IN THE COOLANT OVERFLOW JUG STOP DROPPING AND STAY AT FULL COLD MARK,WHEN THE TOP RADIATOR HOSE GET HOT THERMOSTAT OPENING AIR IS OUT THE COOLANT SYSTEM. WHEN ENGINE COOLS DOWN.CHECK COOLANT OVERFLOW JUG COOLANT MUST BE IN THE COOLANT OVER FLOW JUG AT THE FULL COLD MARK WHEN ENGINE COLD. DONT .DONT OVERFILL COOLANT OVERFLOW JUG.KEEP COOLANT IN THE OVERFLOW JUG IF YOU LET COOLANT OVERFLOW JUG RUN DRY AIR WILL BE DRAW IN COOLANT SYSTEM CAUSE ENGINE TO OVERHEAT.

I put a new thermostat on my 2005 grand dodge caravan yesterday, today I have no heat. Some said vapor lock, where is the air drainage on this model?

there is no air bleeder, It will bleed it self . Or you could put a pan under radiator to catch coolant spill, Put pan under radiator, remove radiator cap, start engine, let engine run, have a 50% coolant mix on hand, when engine warms up the thermostat will open and allow flow of coolant. just as the thermostat starts to open air will release causing coolant to spill over filler cap inlet, this is normal, the pan is so you don't waste coolant or make a mess. in a few moments as the thermostat opens to full position the coolant level will fall in radiator, at this time you will fill radiator untill it will take no more, put cap on radiator and use clean fluid you caught in pan or coolant in jug or whatever you have it in and fill the coolant reservoir to fill line. i hope you have heat now ! check reservoir again the next day, if low fill and you should be good !! do this procedure when engine is cold, never remove a hot radiator cap. but if you were too, make sure you squeeze upper radiator hose, IF IT IS HARD OR UNDER PRESSURE, DO NOT REMOVE !!!! If you can squeeze the hose then put a rag over cap and remove slowly a little pressure or coolant might spill but should be minimal. I have alot of experience in this and severe burns are possible to the inexperienced !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How do i put water for the radiator?

Does your car have a cap or a sealed unit? You don't want a sealed unit. You want to be able to check your water.Push down and Twist the cap off when cold, not hot, fill it up with coolant, 50/50 mix, and fill up the expansion tank. It says coolant on it. The car will balance itself out. Check the water in your battery while you are at it. It dries out too. Then check the brake fluid, power steering fluid, and oil. That should keep you busy next Saturday. Hope this helps.

My 2000 eclipse needs a new thermostat and coolant and i have put coolant in my car and it exploded everywhere and i need a new thermostat and i dont know where it is located or how to put it in any...

follow your big coolant line from your radiator to your engine
where that meets there should be a bubble like attachment under there is your thermostat.
Dont disconnect while engine is hot
drain some coolant before removal or you will have coolant everywhere

Where do you put engine coolant? I think mechanic

If the car is overheating it is not just cause the coolant is low. There is a leak somewhere in the system this must be fixed first.
