I have a 2000 ford focus 1.6i zetec can you tell me where the coolant temperature sensor is located please

The temp sensor will be close to or in the thermostat housing.(top radiator hose). A temp sensor also controls cooling fan. this sensor is usually mounted in the radiator. I strongly recommend that you purchase a Chilton manual for this vehicle.

What would cause the fan in my 2001 ford focus zx3 not to come on?

It can be one of 2 things. The temperature control sensor is bad. Or the fan itself has a broken wire or open circuit.

Request an OBII code from Autozone or other parts store. They give it free. It will give a "trouble" or PO Code that will help you determine what you have to do.
It depends on what size your engine is . 4 cylinder or 6 determines the location and or what type of fan control or temperature sensor it has.

Cuts off when it gets to temp

You say that the temp switch is good but are you refering to the temperature sender unit for the temperature gauge or the sensor switch ( 2 wires ) that communicates to the ECM to turn on the fan when the coolant temperature reaches a pre determined point. Find it and replace it

2003 ford focus zetec 2.0 fans wont come on unless a/c is on. where is the temp sensor or fan switch?

The cooling fans are controled by the engine computer, they are not directly controled by a sensor or switch. If the fans are not energizing you will need to have a scanner to test the electronics to determine why the fans do not come on. However if you turn the a/c on the fans should energize and you could test for power at the fan if power is present then the fan has failed. Please rate this answer this will help me out Thankyou RJ

Cooling fan operation

sounds to me like the thermostat is sticking and allowing the car to overheat. with the a/c on the fan comes on and runs constantly to keep the engine cool
