Find the upper radiator hose, follow it from the radiator to the motor, the hose is connected to the thermostat housing, there will be 3 or 4 bolts on the housing, once removed the thermostat is underneath.

Garage says the entire fuel tank assembly needs to be replaced on my 96 olds lss. Quote is 1100.00 is this reasonable?

Really? That would put soo much hurt on my pocketbook that my health would be affected. Just like a health issue, I think I'd want a second opinion.
Of course, I couldn't argue with the price of parts and everything else now. Insurance appraiser said the damages to my neighbor's one or two year old car totaled over $9,000, from hitting a horse. When I look at it, I have trouble believing it is that much.
Anyway that sounds pretty high. Is there a lot of electronic gizmo there besides a pump and a sensor or two?

Heater Core

My mechanic tells me it is almost impossible to get to it without
taking out the dash. This will give you the clearance you need
to replace it. You might try it from under the dash if you have a
good back but i don.t think there's enough clearance to get it out.
I bought a salvage 1997 lss Olds and the airbag popped the dash
so we had to replace it. Not an easy task unless you've done it
