I am UK so unsure with your currency but I would say your car is fly-by-wire this means the idle is controlled by the throttle body.

These are quite expensive $100 - 300 and $30 - 40 to install.

However, most of the time a reset can resolve an idle fault.

Let me know if you require more info

How do you raise the idle speed on a 2005 mercury mountaineer premier model 4.0L

Your SUV has electronic fuel injection. As such, your idle setting is controlled by a computer (ECM) and cannot be adjusted in the manner I believe you seek. If you have an idle issue, there is most likely something else that needs attention in the system. Coudl be from a senicor being dirty as well, loosing contact...I hope this is of some help I know it is not what you wanted to here. Good luck any more questions just ask if i dont know the answer someone in here will

All of sudden when idleing, it sounds and feels like it's going to stall, when driving it's fine.

check egr valve on exhaust of car it might be getting open early, just remove the tube pipe of egr and try it if the sound in idling is gone then check with your mechanic why it not working , dont replace it directly very few cases are ther that egr to be replace ther other things who cause it to not worling or remain open.
