If it's a '97, go down to autozone and have them check your check engine light. This will give you an OBD code that you can google to find the actual problem.

What symptoms are you having?

SOURCE: 1994 dodge caravan check engine light comes on

These are all the definitions for your codes.
It's hard to give an exact cause for these codes because of there are a number of different items that could cause these.
The first one could be caused by Incorrect camshaft timing,
VCT solenoid valve stuck open or continuous oil flow to piston chamber,
Camshaft advance mechanism binding, or faulty VCT unit,
The others are most likely bad sensors.
I wish I could be more help but it's difficult to trouble shoot this kind of problem without having the vehicle here in front of me.
Good luck

SOURCE: check engine code 55 for 89 dodge caravan

55 is the "end of codes" code. If you only get this, then your vehicle has no stored codes.

SOURCE: HELP... CODES FOR 1996 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN SE.

11- no start since battery disconnected.
12- battery has been disconnected recently.
22-Coolant temperature sensor, bad connection or faulty.
44-signal to smec (engine computer) was interrupted, or is not present.
55- is end of codes.

What exactly are you experiencing as far as starting and driving goes.
The only code I see right now that I would worry about is the coolant temperature sensor, if you are experiencing poor running, starting etc.
The signal to smec, may have been a one time thing, if vehicle runs.

SOURCE: what do fault codes 12, 21, and 55 mean on a 1996

Code 12 = unplug battery recently (allways appear this code)
Code 21 = O2 sensor (the way to solve is replace it)

Check engine light on. Have the codes read. Is the temp normal or hot. Problems could be the crank sensor, coil pack, ignition control module, ECM.

Does anyone know what the code 999 means on a 97 caravan? It also said chec 0, chec 1, chec 2, chec 3. Thanks

Don't know about 999 but the flashing light could be misfire, a clogged cat, cracked head. Take it and get the codes off of it. Last time I saw this on a dodge it was a cracked cylinder head#5 I believe.

Was driving my 97 dodge caravan, and it just quit on me, whats the problem?

If the check engine light is on do the following.

insert ignition key into the ignition.

turn the key as follows.

off-on, off-on, off-on. ( on is when the dash lights come on, off is one click back from on)

service codes will flash out in pairs of numbers on the check engine light. 5-5 is the end of the test.( the codes may display on the odometer if its digital) write down the codes and google the findings.

you may have just run out of gas ;-)

check your vans computer for codes. grab a pencil and paper. insert ignition key.

do the following; off-on, off-on, off-on. codes will flash out on the check engine light in pairs of numbers, 5-5 being the end of the test. write those numbers down and report back so that we may have a better idea of your vans problem

Any chance you are out of gas?

The check engine light on means there is a code stored in the ECM. You will have to have the OBD II system scanned and cleared. The other problem is probably just a blown fuse. If you need more help get back to me.
