Still smoke water exiting exhaust.did gaskets on both rocket covers new oiln&filter

From what you have described you have radiator coolant leaking into the engine cylinders.

This will not be rectified by changing the gaskets on the rocker covers. That just stops engine oil leaking out from around the edges of the rocker covers.

The coolant will be leaking internally due to a failed cylinder head gasket and/or a crack in the cylinder head(s) and/or even a crack in the engine block. You will most likely also have combustion gasses leaking into the cooling system passages from one or more cylinders. I expect there will also be some coolant finding its way into the engine oil.

If you have allowed the radiator coolant to run low and hence for the engine to overheat at any stage that will cause the problems you have now.

You need to have tests run to check if you have a failed head gasket(s) and in that event the cylinder heads will need to be removed, the head gaskets replaced and, while removed, the heads checked for cracks, checked for any warping and overall condition. The engine block will also need to be checked.
If you run a compression test on all cylinders you will likely see the compression lower than spec in a number of them. A leak down test on each cylinder will show which cylinders have coolant leaking into them(and combustion gasses leaking out into the cooling system) and certainly confirm the need to remove the cylinder heads.

If you start the engine cold with the radiator cap removed, once the coolant has warmed and begins flowing from the engine via the top radiator hose to the radiator you will see bubbles in the coolant if there are combustion gasses leaking into the cooling system as described. This is an indication, (because the bubbles can also be air not properly bled out of the cooling system) but you still need to run a leak down test.

You need to have the problem checked out immediately as you do not want to be running the engine in this condition. Make sure you also check the level of the coolant in the cooling system and top it up when the engine is cool if not full. Coolant can escape quickly under normal cooling system pressure when the engine is running.

1997 cavalier 2.2 auto, coolant leaking a steady stream, it's running to the left of the main hose that goes into the engine on the top. Is there a gasket on the block other than the head gasket??

Are you referring to the top radiator hose that goes into the thermostat housing? If so then yes you have an o-ring seal on the bottom of the thermostat housing.

STEAM COMING OFF ENGINE

check top radiator hose goes to thermostat housing sound like its leaking if your engine leaking from left driver side on top of engine it has to be top radiator thermostat hose leaking.wait until engine cool down replace top radiator hose see if coolant leaking still occur if so you could have radiator leak.

One of two places the Coolant will escape from! Check all of ur hoses . For soft or swollen ! These engines are notorious for head problems!

01 seville sls oil leaking into coolant res but no coolant in oil

This sounds like a possible head gasket leak, what happens on the North Star engine is the head bolt studs pull out of the aluminum block. Test for exhaust in cooling system. EXTREMELY expensive to fix correctly, cost prohibitive in most cases, turns the car to instant junk. A real bummer.

Car overheated and lost all power. how do I get it to start?

ENGINE NOT GOING TO START IF GET TOO HOT FIRST THING I WOULD REPLACE THERMOSTAT AND RADIATOR PRESSURE CAP THEN ADD COOLANT UNTIL COOLANT LEVEL CORRECT THATS WHEN THERMOSTAT OPEN UP AND TOP HOSE HOT.CHECK FOR LEAKING RADIATOR HOSES CHECK TOP RADIATOR HOSE CHECK BOTTOM RADIATOR HOSE.CHECK FOR LEAKS AROUND THE RADIATOR LOOK DOWN BELOW COOLANTS FANS CHECK FOR LEAKS AT RADIATOR CORES OR LEAKS AT THE RADIATOR PLASTIC SIDE CONTAINERS. CHECK FOR LEAKS AT WATER PUMP WEEP HOLE AND CHECK FOR LEAKS AT THE HEATER HOSES AROUND ENGINE BLOCK TO THE HEATER CORE HOSES. THERE IS A REASON CAR OVERHEAT.IF CAR OVERHEAT WHILE DRIVING YOU HAVE FAULTY THERMOSTAT OR LEAKING OUT COOLANT OR BLOWN HEAD GASKET.IF ENGINE OVER HEAT WHILE SITTING DURING A LONG IDLING PERIOD.YOU COULD HAVE FAULTY COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR OR FAULTY COOLING FAN FUSE OR RELAY.HOT WIRE COOLANT TO SEE IF IT RUNS IF NO REPLACE FAN MOTOR. IF YES FAN MOTOR COULD HAVE FAULTY WIRE OR PCM FAILURE. CHECK ENGINE CRANKCASE IF OIL LOOKS LIKE MILK SHAKE ENGINE HEAD GASKET LEAKING.

I have a 99 Cadillac Deville which is overheating and I think it is the thermostat. Can I do this myself? Is it easy to get at? I do have some mechanical skills.

you need to make sure the fans are turning on to cool the engine down first, the fans won't kick on until the coolant reaches 212 degrees ,make sure your not losing coolant ant radiator is full, check it when the engine is cold, the north star engines have a flaw in the head gaskets leaking,
