If you want to adjust the pressure required to press the pedal, look under the dash for a spring at the top of the pedal, remove it, and install a heavier/lighter spring of the same length.

Why does my 93 olds intrique shift hard

It sounds like you have to much throttle pressure. If your trans. is electronically controlled it could be the speed sensor, if not then check the throttle cable adjustment.

I bought a 2003 mazda6 3.0 liter v6 with 69000 miles combo auto/man trans. about every 2 weeks or so I'm driving down the road and the trans seems to go into neutral on it's own. the engine revs up with...

Hi. I guess replacing the throttle body is not the soultion for this problem. Try to check the transmission itself. there might be problem with the gears since you mentioned that car go to neutral on its own. Is there an indicator to your dash that will tell you that you are in neutral position?

I have a 1996 f-150 4x4 with a straight 6 auto. The previous owner had the trans rebuilt just before I bought it. Ever since I bought it the fluid looks like new but it shifts really hard from one gear to...

Hi John, Just wanted to throw you a few ideas so you can get a resolution. Sometimes people put in a part called a "shift kit". This has different size openings in the valve body of the Auto trans. It can cause a harder shift and is one possibility.

Next, the Mechanic who overhauled the Auto trans has to put on gauges for pressure readings when finishing the job. The Auto trans is basically a pump (Torque Converter) that pushes fluid under pressure to spin gears. There are different styles of Torque Converters which is a second possibility for your problem. The Mechanics' adjustment of the pressure is a third possibility of your problem.

You need to get the pressure of the Auto trans adjusted. Most of the time it involves using the pressure gauges I mentioned. The newer models of Electronically controlled transmissions can be done by just hooking up a small scanner-computer to adjust the shift. I do not know which type Auto trans you have.

If you are fortunate enough to have the old receipts from his trans job or if the Seller mentioned where he took the Vehicle you are in luck. The repair shop would have a copy of the Work order under the former owners name or the Vin# or owners address. Then you can get a parts list for what was installed inside the trans.

Thanks for using Fixya.

My 88 blazer won't shift out of first gear until its up to 35 to 40 mpg, its a 700 auto. Any suggestions

Check all your vacume lines for leeks. If there are no leeks then may have a bad modulater. There will be one vacume line that goes down your fire wall to your trans.Where the vacume line plugs in,this is your modulater and controls your shifting. The part runs anywhere from $10-15 for a new one and most just screw into the trans or have a fork retainer with a single bolt. This only applies on gas motors.Well good luck and hope this helps.,

My rpm r vey low once car has warmed up what do you suggest

Check engine light codes at a local discount auto parts house, e.g. Autozone, Advanced Auto, or O'Reily's. This is a free service, there should be a code telling you what you need to replace or adjust. You may have a bad coolant temperature sensor, or a bad MAP (manifold absolute pressure), or MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensor. The Throttle Positioning Sensor (TPS) may be faulty, or the Fuel Pressure Sensor.(FPS)

92 honda wont shift auto trans has 2nd and 3rd gear and rev.

You should check fluid condition, and level for the trans, do this with the engine off. May also have some type of electrical/electronic fault, in which case you will need to have it checked for fault codes. If it is not upshifting at all, could be either mechanical, or electronic failure. The condition of the fluid should give you some insight. Also the possibilty of the throttle pressure cable may be broken, or severly out of adjustment.

It is most likely burning up. Or there isn't enough in the system or doesn't work its way through immediately
