SOURCE: air conditioner quit cooling,

I have a 2007 Kia Sorento EX. I had a similar problem. I checked for leakage in the nozzle. The nozzle was repaired and I refilled gas. This resolved the cooling problem.

SOURCE: front ac is blowing cold

More than likely this is the rear orifice tube(or rear metering block) same concept. This invloves evacuating the ac and removing the orifice tube and repl;acing it.This is just normal maint that is accustomed to this vehicle. Please get back to me with any more questions...thanks!!!

SOURCE: Air con has been topped up to pressure blows hot

Is compressor clicking on and off?
If its not here is alist of items to check out:
-pressure switches
-compressor
-on/off switch
-a/c relay,
-cooling fan relay
-cooling fan
-control head
Remember there is no such thing as just topping off. The refrigerant doesn't evaporate. It is in an enclosed system air tight always under some pressure whether on or off.
So if someone told you that you were low on refrigerant what they should have explained this to you. Basically you may have a leak.
If you have a set of R134A manifold gauges put them on and ckeck for refrigerant being present in the system. If your below 50 psi on high side you probably have a leak. Checking for leaks on a 2003 is not so bad .First try looking for oil spots on the refrigerant line . If that doesn't work then bring the vehicle to a repair shop. they have the proper equiptment to do this. If you do find the leak via oil spots you have to recover the refrigerant thats in the system with a recovery machine first. Then replace the o-ring at the connection that was leaking or remove/ replace the item that was leaking.
Your gonna need a vacuum pump or recovery machine for the next part. Pull a vacuum on the entire system for 20 minutes then shut off the system and check for leaks. If manifold gauge on recovery machine doesn't move within five minutes you can recharge the system. Good luck

SOURCE: ac is blowing hot air from vents

This job requires special tools and special training. If you lack either, you risk SERIOUS personal injury. Injury comes VERY EASILY!

You need to address oil levels, proper and legal refrigerant recovery, system evacuation, and recharge.

You were planning to also replace the receiver/dryer, correct? It also needs the oil in it measured and incorporated into the amount of oil (in %) that would need to be added. FAILURE to address these and other issues will guarantee premature system failure and likely compressor damage.

Take this job to a qualified shop.

Sorry

Rear Floor Vent heat only

Sounds like your heater coolant hose door flap is broken or loose. May want to check behind the heater controls, if your components are mechanically operated. If electronically, may need to perform more troubleshooting before replacing this component.

It blows out hot air even when the air in the front is cold

Hard to read your question, do you mean it blows cold air out of the front vents and hot air out of the rear passenger vents?

If the air coming out of the front is just cool and not cold, and the rear vents are warm, you have low freon and need to have it serviced.

96 suburban air conditioning blows out cool in front hot air back

Am investigating same problem. Download the free technical manual and you can find a diagram for the air mix door. If this doesn't shut you will be getting lots of heat through despite the cooling of the Aircon. I don't know how to get at it or fix it but it describes how to run diagnostics - you don't need specialist tools for this. Also a blocked pollen filter probably won't help.

97 Ford Econoline air conditioning and vent settings blowing hot

I know from experience that if the coolant is to low ( not just the freon levels in the compresor but the antifreeze/coolant level as well) the AC system will not cool and will blow hot. Check the coolant Antifreeze and freon levels, even with the Coolant being a little low my 1998 Ford E150 Van will blow hot. After you have ruled out of these possibilities and the chance it is the thermostat most likely the problem is what Ford calls the "Flap" it controls the air flow through the vent system when you switch from Heat to AC. When the Flap is working it closes off one systems air flow so as to not interfere with the current climate selection.

Rear air conditioning setting

It sounds like your rear temp. blend door is malfunctioning. You might could get a known good controller from (ebay, junkyard, craigslist) then plug it in. If this does not fix, it is probably a blend door actuator issue.
