Question about Buick Riviera

1 Answer

1995 Buick Riviera Supercharged. Runs intermittantly. Replaced Fuel Pressure Regulator and fuel filter. Runs on Starting Fluid. Turn on ignition and wait 45 seconds - can her pump run for 5 seconds. Then, maybe, engine will start. Think pump is going out. How to install?

SOURCE: 1995 Buick Riviera supercharged The tachometer

I had the same problem with stalling & found the throttle sensor helped. It was only a $15 part @ an aftermarket parts supplier. You'll need small fingers to get to the few screws holding it in place. Also make sure it's positioned correctly before installing & tightening the screws.
Good Luck!

SOURCE: wanna know if i can put a tranny for basic 1995 riviera in my Supercharger

you will most probably need a beefed up tranny to take the power of the engine, I have just installed a 350 supercharged chevy motor in my sons car with a Turbo 350 transmission and a shift kit which I have been told by an auto trans mechanic may not take the power of that engine.
It is costing him $1500 australian to have it reconditioned so I hope it will survive the rides

Sounds like your fuel pump is weak so i would check the fuel pressure first. The fuel pressure should be 40-47 psi with key on and engine off and 31-44 psi with engine running. If its not within these specs then replace the fuel pump.

Won't run. Replaced Fuel Pressure Regulator; Engine Computer Module (QDM40; sprayed carb cleanet into EGR; replaced Ignition Control Module. Car runs on Quick Start Fluid only.

If it runs on start fluid and nothing else its obviously a fuel concern fuel pump ,fuel pump relay ,check fuel pressure at the regulator that you replaced.

Have buick riviera 95 supercharged drive car then shuts off while driving replaced fuel filter and fuel pump check for spark and gets a spark what should check next?

This car should have a lot of miles on it. You will want to pay attention to everything, the way it idles, the color of the exhaust. It really could be anything. I would check the CAT, may be time to change, could be a worn-out ignition switch, how does the key go in and turn? It may be a defective sensor but you would need to inspect them and the related wiring. Also a good scan-tool would help so you could look at live data. Does that help?

No start

if it runs on starting fluid its a fuel problem.. check fuel pressure even if its a couple of pounds off, the vehicle will not run. but using starting fluid may give you the extra poundage you need to make it run . also check vacuum hose at pressure regulator on fuel rail
