It is not recommended, if it over heats, could and more then likely will damage the cylinder heads, then you be looking at about $800.00 to $1,000.00 to repair, it would be much much less to repair your elec. radiator fan problem, hope this was very helpful.

The coolant fan dose not work on my 97 cavalier

The fan relay is grounded by the computer when the fan is needed.
The fan should come on when you turn on the ac or when the engine reaches 220 degrees.
If you know for a fact the fan should be on, someone would need to check the relay for power and ground then proceed to the fan motor.

Fan stuck on HIGH, cant turn it off

there is a mosfet power transistor that drives the fan.it is probably shorted, applying full power to the fan at all times, even if the climate control is off

Cooling fans dont work in 92 chevy lumina

Hot wire each fan to see if they work. One hot wire will do since the motor is grounded well to the body. If they are working check the reading on the coolant fan switch. If no voltage is coming from it replace it. If it shows voltage the fan relay will need to be replaced instead

Car runs hot

If it was the thermostat, it would run hot all the time. Sounds more like the electric cooling fans are not working. Either the fans themselves are not working, or the coolant temperature sensor is bad and not sending a signal to the computor to turn them on. Have the fans checked first, then go for the sensor if it isn't the fans.

My bmw 323i overheats about after 2 hours of driving my heaters work and i dont know why.

check if thermostat is stuck open as too much flow can cause this. start car cold and see how long top radiator hose takes to heat up. shoud stay cold for 3-4 minutes.
if thats ok check thermo fan operation- run can in drive way at idle for 20 + minutes untill fan starts, keep an eye on temp guage.

Cooling fans dont turn on

thats your main radiator fan, meaning if it don't come on then vehicle will get hot. check the fan for operation by letting the vehicle idle for a while, keep check the temp gauge and what for the fan to come on at the half way point.

Over heating

This may work for you, I'm not sure about your fans, but in a 1992 Ford Ranger when I kept overheating in idle or after turning off it was the heater core, you may want to try bypassing core and you should be fine, of course this is a band-aid fix. You're definitely going to replace the heater core (if that is the problem) and hunt down why your fans are not kicking on for a permanent fix.
