I own a 1997 saturn sl and one of my main fuel lines from the tank has a hole in it. What is the easiest way to replace it myself or should I take it to the dealer?

Not a good idea to play around with leaking fuel in the confines under a car. If the hole is localised the garage may just cut it and fit a compression join at the break or if the hole is symptomatic of corrosion along the length of the fuel line it is probably expedient to replace the whole section.

Fuel pump location for a saturn 1997 sl

it's most likely in the top of the fuel tank itself. you can drop the fuel tank to get to it but some cars have an access panel just for this reason under the rear seat. simply pull the bottom of the back seat out and you will see right away if it has one or not.

1997 Saturn SL1 takes a bit to start when it has been setting for 5 to 10 mins or longer. Any time less than that, it will usually start right up. Is there like a fuel check valve somewhere, that...

there is a fuel pressure regulator, that keeps the line from draining back into the tank. on 99s it sits alongside the gas tank and is combined with a filter. on a 97 however i think it resides elsewhere. a trip to autozone or advance and they will show you one, or just look on their website and then you will know where it is located and what it looks like. note before messing around with it, first relieve the pressure and use only high pressure line to replace any fuel line you toss out.

1 = Have you checked the fuel pressure ?
A = check it at the fuel rail and back by the left rear wheel there is the fuel filter,
reason is that the fuel filter is also a regulator, when they get dirty the fuel is routed back to fuel tank,

How to replace1997 saturn fuel pump

its not bad to do, first thing is to jack the rear of the car up and support it, next is to remove the filler neck hose from the tank, now remove the straps holding the tank but first make sure theres ajack to support tank, once straps are remove lower tank slowly until you can get to fuel lines and plug that goes to top of pump, note;fuel may spray a little when removing the fuel lines so wear safty glasses and wrap line end with a rag to aviod getting sprayed, with tank down remove retaining ring and pull pump asm, up.hope this helps.

I need location of the fuel pump on a 1995 saturn

the fuel pump is located inside the gas tank. You have to lower the gas tank, unlock the ring that holds it in, unhook the wires and fuel lines, and then you can lift it out.

Does anyone know the location of the fuel filter on a 1997 saturn ?

If the 1997 is the same as my 1995 the fuel filter is under the drivers side of the car just slightly back from the strut assembly. You will have to have a friend help you replace it since there is a pipe loom about 1/2 way down the firewall. You have to disconnect the fuel rail end of the supply line that comes up from sure to watch yourself as the fuel system is under pressure. I recommend that you wait until the engine is cold before starting. After releasing the supply line, have your friend above and you underneath and get the retaining bolt out and the "loom" off. Then disconnect the pipe from the fuel tank to the back side of the filter assembly. Make sure to install the new retainer that comes with the filter assembly. The fuel filter assembly will run about $25.00. Take you time, and remember...install the new retainer.
