Most probably the heater resistor is bad , its just beside the blower motor, with a harness of 4 to 6 wires connected to it , usually blown because the blower motor is drawing too much power

Ac/heater will only work on low when you move it to med or high it shuts off

need to check switch, resistor and fan ---ur switch might have resistor built in it would need to be tested for continuity for the other speeds --if your truck [didnt specify which ] has a separate resistor it should be attached to the heater fan motor housing again resistor needs to be tested -also test ur fan for any resistance or overheating

The heater is working, if you touch the duct is hot. but no air is blowing out.

Hello,
Try your blower on all speeds. Sometimes the high speed will work and that would mean you have a bad resistor for the fan motor.
If it doesn't work on any speed you could have;
1. A blown fuse.
2. A bad fan switch.
3. A bad connection/short somewhere between the switch and the fan motor.
4. A bad fan motor.

This is the order that I would troubleshoot from.

I hope this helps you.

Fan motor problem

usually its the heater resistor that causes that. find it and check it out, this controls all fan speeds. its under the passengers side glove box, take off wiring then remove 2 screws and then it will drop out.

2004 Galant: Only 2 speeds work on the heater a/c fan?...

might be due to a hot spot on the part of the switch mechanism inside of the instrument panel. when you turn the switch to various speeds, a small metal prong from the turn switch touches different metal contacts on the inside of the switch, each one is a different speed. hot spots or electric archs could have burnt out all but two of the speeds. filing or sodering the individual metal contacts may work, or you may have to buy a new fan speed switch. try a salvage yard. probably 30 dollars or so

Heater/ac switch speeds 1 and 2 don not work in 99 Silverado

you need a resister found under your air duct by the passenger floor under dash board auto zone sells these for about 25.00 you may as well buy cabin air filters while your at it . 1 of the screws will be a pain to install back into the duct work I left mine out didn,t make a difference . you might have to order it as they are a comman item oh you will need a vacuum to clean up mess from cabin air filters .this is not a hard job .

If the heater fan on your car only works on "High" the problem is more than likely the resister assembly in your blower circuit or poor connections at the resister assembly. When the switch is in the "high" position the current does not flow through the resister assembly it flows directly to the coil of the blower relay. When the switch is in "low", "medium 1", or "medium 2" position the current flows through 1, 2, or all 3 of the resistors in the resistor assembly which results in the 3 different lower speeds. Check the resister assembly and replace if needed.
