Check motor to body ground strap, battery to motor and battery to body ground for corrosion under mounting bolts. Bad ground can cause all kinds of electrical problems. Also your starter or soloinoid could be shorting out.
Check and make sure that you have a very clean and good connection at battery, try it again, if pos. cable at battery get hot, bad starter assembly, starter no good over loading, replace it.
You will ned a new starter, the windings have shorted and it just draws a lot of current but doesn't spin.
