Question about 1997 Nissan Pickup
On my Mistral the second one is stamped into the frame to the outside, immediately under the drivers door.

If you just want to know the year of the vehicle, there should be a label on the drivers door near the door latch that tells vehicle info including the year it was manufactured.
The chassis number is located on a plate on the front of the frame of the vehicle on the passenger side. It would also be on a plate on the passenger side near the firewall.
