Question about 1999 GMC Jimmy

1 Answer

My 99 Jimmy with V6 Votex engine has had the fuel pump replaced twice, the filters changed, injectors cleaned and a tune up. I replaced a bad O2 snbsor, and within 2 days light came back on. Replace 2nd O2 sensor and light was back on within 5 minutes. Car tries to stall, engine rpms swing madly and engine dies. won't start again for from minutes to an hour. Any suggestions?

My 2002 kia sedona won't idle until warms up, dies when put into gear ...any ideas??

Is the check engine light on? you could have a bad ignition fail sensor, TPS sensor, or bad o2 sensor. it could also be a bad mass air flow sensor or a vacuum leak. without a code to help pin point the problem I'd start by checking those things first. Maybe try unplugging the mass airflow sensor and start it up and see if anything changes.

1995 GMC Jimmy will not start.

It sounds like you have a fuel problem (too lean). This problem is probably with the injector spider assembly, a common problem with high mileage Jimmys. Early versions of this spider do not use individually controlled poppets - just one injector that feeds each of the six cylinders in sequence under control of the ECM. If you can get it started, try a high strength injector cleaner in the gas tank. Also, the fuel pressure reading must be within normal range when you turn ignition on and then while trying to start the engine, and if not, the fuel regulator is faulty. You could also have a malfunctioning injector. In either case, you should try replacing the entire spider assembly.
Replacing the faulty O2 sensor is also a good idea. This engine starts in open loop mode, and after it warms up it tries to go to closed loop and the ECM will attempt to use the O2 sensors in it's calculation for fuel delivery. If one or more of the sensors are contaminated, this will drive the ECM crazy.

Missing

engine missing could be caused by faulty spark plugs and wires, bad ignition coils, dirty fuel injectors, leaking egr valve, low cylinder compression, intake vacuum leaks.many things will cause engine to miss, first do minor fix, replace distributor cap and rotor, replace spark plugs and wires, clean fuel injectors, replace fuel filter and air filter,if this minor tune up dont help engine and engine still missing, do a vacuum test and compression test to check condition of engine.engine could be worn out have low compression by worn valves and pistons rings.

My 1995 jimmy starts hard. I have to pump gas pedel 5 or 6 times while turning it over?

it's a 95 with probably over 100,000 miles with a vortec engine. i would change the fuel filter, plugs and wires (simple tune-up) and every fill up i would put a bottle of fuel injector cleaner in the tank or take it to a firestone or other shop that can do a fuel system cleaning and injector cleanig

I have a 99 accord that lacks power when I hit a hill. It runs fine and gets good mileage but I have to downshift from 5th to 4th on minor hills. Check engine light is off.

howdy, there are a few things on your 99 Accord that could cause that problem. usually all will eventually turn on the check engine light in time. make sure your check engine light is working when the key is first turned to run.

* a partially clogged catalytic converter.
* faulty O2 Sensor (Bank 1 Sensor1).
* low fuel pressure caused by a bad fuel pump, clogged fuel filter(in the tank) or a bad fuel pressure regulator on the injector rail.
*bad ignition switch which can cause intermittent stalls.

now i don't know which engine you have, (i'm guessing a 4cyl.) there were two 2.3L- 4cyl. engines (F23A1 & F23A4) and a 3.0 V6. but if you also have a rough idle or low idle miss, a jumped timing belt can also causing loss of power.

if you know anyone with a scanner that reads the computer datastream, see what the O2 Sensor (Bank 1 Sensor1) is doing & look at fuel trim readings. Also check backpressure on the converter where that O2 Sensor is screwed in.

please let me know if i have helped, totally confused or scared you to death! Good Luck!

99 gmc no power when passing or climbing

It could be electric fuel pump stall. The pump isn't pumping fuel fast enough. This model may have a inline fuel filter before the fuel pump as well that might need replacing.
