Starter stays engaged

This is due either to the starting signal not being removed from the solenoid, or the starter is not shimmed properly and the starter teeth are getting jammed into the flywheel teeth.

Starter stays engaged on my 06 Chevy Malibu

There are a few possibilities...
  1. Starter improperly shimmed and is biding to flywheel.
  2. Starter or flywheel teeth worn causing binding (not likely)
  3. Starter solenoid return spring broken.
  4. Ignition switch problem causing starter to stay powered after key released.

Starter stays engaged or blows a fuse when I try to start my skid steer

This could be the starter or the ignition switch, Take the starter out and have it tested. IF the starter tests ok, replace the ignition switch.

My 87 jeep starter stays ingaged when I try to start it

needs shimmed or the bendix is bad in the starter and not allowing to release. most likely just needs shimmed if it's a new starter, however you can get a bad starter (new or rebuilt)

F 150 starts and starter stays engaged unplug alternator starts ok but no charge

2 problems, first you have bad starter or starter relay for starter staying engaged, keep alt plugged in has nothing to do with starter staying engauged, to test starter relay, jump at relay bat + post with red/bk wire on solonoid, if cranks over without staying engaged, then not relay or starter but rather in your ign switch, ford had bad problems with ign switch some years ago doing that
