Question about 2000 Volkswagen Jetta TDI

1 Answer

I purchased a used 2000 jetta with the 2.0l gas engine. I made a couple of stops on the way home and at the last gas stop the car would not start. The battery has plenty of juice all the instrument and head lights some on and it sounds as though the fuel pump cuts in. I dont hear any sounds coming from under the hood so I don't thing the starter is getting power. I visually checked the wires that connect to the starter and they look fine. There are no blown fuses. Any suggestions?

EPC LIGHT WONT STOP in my 02 Jetta

When was the last time you changed your Air filter( A dirty filter can put MAF sensor out of range). How about the fuel filter (Fuel starvation). These filters should be changed every 30,000 miles . It is normal for all of the dash lights to come on if the engine stops running. Is the Jetta a Diesel or Gas. Perform The OBDII scan again to see if current faults are present. Do the cheapest fixes first. Also check oil often. The low oil sensor will trigger engine shut down if more than 1 quart low

I have a 2003 Jetta. Me and my husband were driving down the road and the car died. We thought we were out of gas because the fuel light had come on before that, but when we stopped and tried to start the...

2003 jetta should have a chain not belt. if there is a large degree of angle from the crank to cam sensors, the ecm or computer will not enable the starter.when you say turn over ,does the starter make a noise and turn the engine, but the car will not start.....?low fuel can burn out an aged fuel pump, because it uses fuel to cool the pump.
have the fuel system pressure tested,or put gas in the throttle body.if it runs for a couple seconds, fuel pump is suspect.
if the engine is dead, you have to mechanically turn it over to see if it is seized.
