Power window motors usually only have two wires connected to them.It works on power and ground, but you need to realize that the two wires swap pos and neg polarity so the motor's direction of rotation reverses according to an up or down command. the power is fed to the driver's door through a 20-amp circuit breaker. The power comes into the window-switch control panel on the door and is distributed to a contact in the center of each of the four window switches. Two contacts, one on either side of the power contact, are connected to the vehicle ground and to the motor. The power also runs through the lockout switch to a similar window switch on each of the other doors. When the driver presses one of the switches, one of the two side contacts is disconnected from the ground and connected to the center power contact, while the other one remains grounded. This provides power to the window motor. If the switch is pressed the other way, then power runs through the motor in the opposite direction.Try this procedure to confirm the fault in motor or switch. The reversible electric motors. This type of motor allows the direction of motor operation to be changed by reversing the polarity of the electricity applied to the motor by the switch. Testing is done at the motor and requires the removal of the door panel for access. An automotive circuit tester is all that is needed to diagnose problems,Locate the power window motor and unplug the wiring harness from the motor connector. Attach the red lead of the automotive circuit tester to the positive battery terminal and the black lead to the negative battery terminal. Test for power at the motor connector terminals of the wiring harness, and work the power window switch up and down to see if power is supplied to the connector in one direction and not the other. Test both terminals of the connector in this same way, to insure that the switch is working properly. If the terminals do not change from power to ground when the switch is moved, suspect a faulty switch. If switching does occur, replace the motor.------------ Thanks. Keep updated for any more query. You can rate this solution and show your appreciation.

Hi! Have you tried replacing the window motor? It could be faulty and needs replacement. Its working when wires are switched because of new current supply but once fixed it wont. This is because of a faulty window motor. HOpe this helps and have a good one!

You may want to clean the window switch contacts too. If they are corroded they fail.

Hi,
The problem would be the power window switch assembly! That switch controls the power to ur window motors! If u are a tinkering man, try to borrow from any garage/friend w/ the same window switch and test it!
Or
Go to ur service center and have them check it for free... they always try the new switch... and you will know the main prob!

Driver's side power window won't work in '96 honda accord. stuck in the down position.

Its most likely a faulty power window motor. They all have individual circuit breakers inside the motor or switch, they aren't on a fuse. They quite often fail in either full up or full down positions, but can stop anywhere. Remove the door panel and locate the 2 wire connector coming from the motor. If you have a test light jumper across both wires (on the vehicle side of connector), while using the switch. It should light up in both directions (bi-directional motor). If the test light only lights in one direction or neither, it is most likely a bad window switch. To verify, jumper 12Volts to one side of the window motor connection and ground the other. The window should move in one direction, revrse the 2 wires the window moves in opposite direction then the motor is good.

The power window switch on the driver's door of my 2005 civic hybrid for the right rear passenger window only rolls the window down, not up (the switch on the passenger window door works fine). I'm having...

If your window rolled down than means your window regulator is getting power. It's most likely your switches are bad.

When you use the down switch it supplies power to your window regulator. When you use the up switch it supplies power also but the polarities are switch which causes the window to roll in the opposite direction.

Sounds like your up switch is not making a complete connection to make your window roll back up.

For parts, check this LINK.

Good luck.

the wires at the door jamb connector get brittle and crack and break, causing all manner of oddities. and it can certainly be intermittent. like your window rolls down with the door open, but does nothing if the door is closed. wires may need to be repaired or replaced with that molex style plug/connector in the door

1996 honda civic lx passanger power window problem

I had this problem as well as 33 others I've spoken to online. The main floor harness runs thru the drivers side front fender and plugs into the drivers door. The harness in 1996 civics are an inch or 2 too short so after a few years a few of the 25 thru 27 wires in the plug #C556 either break off or pull out of the plug. Since the drivers door contains the master power window and lock switches and the power mirrors can also be affected it can seem like everyones problems are in different parts of the car but they are all part of the same default. So I went to ebay and purchased a floor harness with full power options and installed it myself. Until my part came in I just went to a junk yard and cut off a good plug then spliced it into my existing floor harness. Hope this helps. It took me 4 months to figure this problem out!!!
