Question about Alfa Romeo 156

1 Answer

I need to replace the alternator(generator) of my 2001 Alfa Romeo 156 (2.0 Twin Spark), but it seems a very tricky job and my mechanic says it is awfully difficlut to find enough room(space or gap) to work with and to remove and reinstall the generator. How can I do this? Could you give me some detailed tips for this? Or, could I get a dedicated procedures for this? (The vehicle ID number of my Alfa is ZAR93 200000161710.) Sincerely, Handol KIM (South Korea)

Thank you for your answer but your answer is too vague and does not hit the mark.

You said "refer to the pictures in this service manual'' but which pictures are you referring to?

In the attached service manual, I cannot find any section pertaining to the "alternator/generator" repair (or replacement). This is not helping me at all. Do you have anything to say on this?

Plus, since the maunal is written in French, it is awfully difficult to understand. No manual in English?

I need a better, more specific answer to get any kind of realistic support.

    Sincerely,

    Handol KIM

Thanks for the answer, but your answer is too vague and off the mark. That is, which pictures are you referring to in the attached repair manual? Without specifying that, it is difficult to draw any valuable information that helps me to resolve this problem. And in the attached repair manual, I cannot find any directly related material to alternator/generator replacement. Do you have anything to say on this?

    Sincerely,

    Handol KIM

Hi.

You need to release the tensioner pulley, and then you have to undo the alternator working from underneath the car.
You will need to lift and secure the vehicle. The alternator bolts can also be reached from the upper side, but that is more difficult.

Please refer to the pictures in this service manual (service manual is in French): RTA - Alfa Romeo 156

Fitted new fuel pump to alfa romeo 156 twin spark still no fuel getting to engine and car wont start

Make sure to check the fuses, most of the time when this pump goes bad it blows the fuse, and fuses sometimes get corioded and dont make a connection take a look at the fuse box.

My 156 t spark alfa romeo is cutting out over 3ooo rpm worst in reverse dont think its air flow meter seems to just die but will start again like a cut out switch

if u have to wait 10 min for it to cool down, then it starts again - i would go with crank sharf sensor replacement.

everyone on other forums said it would be this 100%.

i replaced it and so far touch wood.

35 pound part online and max 1hr to replace.

seems to common for 145,146,147,156 etc.

My 156 sportswagon is burning fuel badly i put 2 gallons in and only got 31 miles for this i can hear an air leak coming from top of engine would this be a likley cause for such poor fuel consumption it's...

an air leak would weaken the mix of fuel to air so giving you better fuel efficiency but a poor power output.
was my last answer not to your liking, re **** fuel consumption on all fiat/alpha cars.but it is true, ask any owner........14.7 average mpg.......£205 road tax.....(tax it for a year and quadruple its value...)

Revs stuck 2000 , once passed that drives fine otherwise kangaroo jumps. its a alfa romeo 156 twin

Could be your throttle body. Check for any parts that may restrict your throttle body causing it to stick when giving it gas or letting off. Check that there is nothing blocking your throttle cable by tracing it by hand and inspecting around it.
