Have an 07 f350 Ford pick up 6.0L power stroke .batterys replaced . Alternator replaced . Dash battery light still stays on no charge .soure voltage gd to alternator ,and plug . Reads gd voltage to si

I would try the regulator, there is a few tests to see if the alternator is charging, use a multi meter and check the b post on the alternator and earth and see what voltage it is producing, check all those sort of things and you will find the problem, make sure the battery terminals are very clean or they won't accept charge as well, hope this helps

96 dodge ram 2500 diesel turbo good batteries, alternator good.. batteries won't charge

check that the charge rate from the alternator is no ac current. A multi meter will show a charge rate of 13.5 to 14.5 volts but that could be unrectified current because of a failed diode in the rectifier in the alternator. Set the meter to read for ac voltage and if you have ac reading then have the alternator overhauled. Have a load test done to check the batteries for a problem cell under load.

2006 pt cruiser battery light comes on but alternator is fine

I believe the main cause of your confusion is that you are assuming that your charging system consists of only the alternator, the battery, and the battery cables.

Your alternator is controlled by your Powertrain Control Module (PCM) The FIRST STEP in diagnosing this system is scanning the PCM for fault codes. Then the computer data (Battery Input Voltage PID) should be checked to see if the PCM is reading the same voltage that your volt meter is reading at the battery. If you have not done that, then you are shooting yourself in the foot trying to figure it out.

Internally shorted or sulfated batteries is a VERY COMMON cause of these symptoms. Proper testing of the battery (with the correct equipment and techniques) is required to verify if this is the cause of the problem. (computer systems do all kinds of irrational things when they start getting delirious from malnutrition)

My abs light and my battery light is on. new battery ran down in less than an hour.

check for voltage from the alternator, charge the battery ,, with a multi meter set to DC volts ,, check voltage, you should have a reading just a little over 12v dc, then start the car,, check again, you should get a reading between 13.5 volts to 14.5 volts , if you have that your alt is good,, if not Its not charging the battery as your driving, having a low battery makes the computer go crazy and it looks for anything wrong,, Ive had dash lights for everything light up ,

Have 2002 Nissan frontier. Recently bought new battery. Had alternator checked by autozone. Truck will not start occasionally, and sometimes dies while driving. Lights will dim and truck will not...

I would get a second opinion on your alternator. Does your battery light come on while your driving? That can be an indicator of an alternator going bad. Also, there's an easy way to check the alternator yourself if you have access to a multi-meter. Turn the multi-meter on to DC volts and start the car. Put the positive lead on the positive battery terminal and the negative lead on the negative battery cable. While the car is idling, the meter should read 12.5 - 13.5 volts. Have someone rev the engine. With the increased RPM's the meter should read over 14 volts. If the voltage goes down when you rev the engine, your alternator is bad.

Good Luck!

Check charging system

at battery when car is running there should be at least 14 to 14.2 volts. when car is off, at battery there should be at least 13 volts at battery. if alternator is charging and reads 14 volts or a bit higher. and all the belts are tight. you may have a weak battery. check it out! have a good day !!

Red battery light appeared on dashboard. Please advise the potential problem. Chrysler 300c

Either your battery is shot and no longer will take a charger and your PCM is noticing low voltage or your alternator is not longer charging well enough to provide adequate voltage to your PCM. THese are 2 signs of the battery light

97 nissan sentra with brake and battery light staying lit after changing battery. when it goes into passing gear light goes off then comes back on

These lights will come on if your alternator isn't charging fully. With a multi meter test your voltage at the battery with the engine running. The voltage should be above 14 volts. If it is below 14 you will need to replace the alternator.

Ok, I just got a new battery and coil ignition bwd.I also had my alternator re-built about 2 weeks ago,but my battery light still pops on when i turn the headlights on!my belts seem to be tight enuf. is it...

if you have a multi meter,
check voltage at battery with car running, should be at least 13-14 volts,
now turn on fan motor to high, flashers on,radio on, and check voltage at battery, regulator should have adjusted voltage to handle the load, should still be 13-14 volts,
now turn all that stuff off,and turn on headlights and recheck battery voltage,if below 13-14 volts replace regulator,if voltage is spiking higher than 14volts replace regulator.you do not need other belts.
