Those pesky little bypass hoses in the cooling system tend to go hard and split if they are over 5 years old, allowing coolant loss.

1998 Chrysler voyager van water leaking form heater core. once water is added in to radiator makes no difference using antifreeze

As long as the coolant is full, You won't have problems with heat. Check the rest of the system for leaks. Can't find a leak and still gets low. 2 possibilities. Heater core is leaking or head gasket is leaking. I would lean towards the heater core because of the water inside.

I think you have a leaking headgasket or a coolant leak. Have the cooling system pressure tested first, if no external leaks show up then you have a possible leaking headgasket.

Coolant leak

On these mini vans there are lines to back if it has temp control in back. How much water do you loose in what period of time? If no leaks found then check exhaust while running to see if coolant smell from there. Could have leak in gasket on intake allowing water in or head gasket and just burning water. Has fuel milage dropped?

I have unseen coolant loss with no overheating unless coolant gets to low. Can the coolant loss be through the intake manifold gaskets? My vehicle is a 2002 Chrysler 3.8 in a Town and County van (No rear...

it is unlikely that it would be leaking through the intake manifold gasket as such, but loss of water is usually caused by leakage, but they are not always easy to find, depending how much water you are losing as to where it is leaking, sometimes if it is a leaking water hose at the clamp it will only leak when you first start the engine & stop when the engine warms up ( very hard to detect) it could be the head gasket is starting to blow check the exhaust pipe when the engine gets up to normal running temperature to see if there is any steam coming out if so that may well be the problem......hope this helps......cheers.

On these vans the light will stay on untill it is reset. You need a OBD 2 scanner to reset it. You can take it to the dealer and have them do it but they will probably charge you like $130. The best thing for you to do is check with an auto parts store. They normally have a scanner on hand and will turn it off for you free of charge. Advance and Autozone I know pretty much have a scanner at every store.

I would not use stop leak, I would try and locate the leak as it may just be from a hose which is an easy fix. If you can't locate it I would consider purchasing the UV dye for your coolant system then using a black light and you will be able to easily find the leak. As far as coolant if you go to your local auto parts store they have coolant that is made to be added to any kind of coolant and will be safe for your vehicle. Just make sure to note if it is pre mixed or not, if it is not you should be diluting it with 1 part coolant 1 part water.
Thanks,
Lee

My 2001 Ford Windstar van seems to be using alot of coolant daily

Possible coolant leak on hot engine parts causing it to evaporate as it leaks. That would definitely invade the cabin air. You would need to carefully check under the hood with the engine warmed up and running.

Also could be a headgasket failure between coolant channels and a combustion chamber. This latter problem sometimes shows itself as vapor at the tailpipe after there should be no more visible. You may also detect the odor of coolant there too.
